\u201cI\u2019ve been here my whole life and the amount of mosquitoes I\u2019ve seen this summer has been insane,\u201d\u00a0a TikTok user posted on her profile<\/a> and the post garnered most than 21,000 likes. <\/p>\n

She added she can\u2019t even go to her backyard because of the bloodsuckers. \u201cYou can\u2019t even sit in your car with the windows down. They\u2019re infested everywhere,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur kids have been covered head to toe in mosquito bites\u2026It\u2019s an absolute nightmare. We invest a lot of money to live in a beautiful town like El Segundo. The last thing we want is to stay up all night fighting mosquitoes,\u201d Hedding told Fox 11.<\/p>\n

Los Angeles County has recorded over 180 cases of West Nile virus<\/a> this year\u2014the highest spike in nearly a decade, according to the local public health department. <\/a><\/p>\n

The region\u2019s native \u2018Culex\u2019 mosquito picks up West Nile from wild birds before passing it on to humans. In nearby Orange County, vector control officials have pulled a staggering 850 traps loaded with West Nile-positive bugs, reports the Guardian. <\/a><\/p>\n

Even worse are the hyper-aggressive invasive species known as \u2018Aedes\u2019 mosquitoes which are also known as \u201cankle-biters\u201d because they specifically target human legs and bite multiple times in one go.<\/p>\n
