Directed by Chen Sicheng (\u201cDetective Chinatown\u201d) and co-written with Zhang Ji and Yan Zijie, the period investigation drama has amassed $73.4 million since opening on Oct. 1. Starring Zhang Yi, Ma Li, and Chen Minghao alongside Karry Wang, Fan Chengcheng, and Chen Feiyu, the multi-decade narrative charts a veteran public security officer unraveling major historical cases based on real events.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBeijing Joy Fun Pictures\u2019 family body-swap comedy \u201cMr. &amp; Mrs. Pardon\u201d was in third position, generating $5.7 million over the weekend frame to lift its cumulative gross to $43.6 million. Directed by Shen Chunyang and written by Ma Duo, the satirical feature stars real-life comedic pair Shen Chunyang and Xiao Shenyang alongside Jia Bing and Yu Yang as an uninspired middle-aged couple forced to confront marital stagnation after trading bodies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tCMC Pictures\u2019 gritty revenge thriller sequel \u201cGo for Broke 2\u201d placed fourth, adding $1 million in its second weekend. Written and directed by Marc Ma, the action film starring Isabella Leong, Wen Junhui, and Sammo Hung has accumulated $7.9 million since its Oct. 3 launch.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDirty Monkeys\u2019 war comedy-drama \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/once-upon-a-time-in-the-middle-east\/\" id=\"auto-tag_once-upon-a-time-in-the-middle-east\" data-tag=\"once-upon-a-time-in-the-middle-east\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Once Upon a Time in the Middle East<\/a>,\u201d which is China\u2019s entry to the Oscars\u2019 international feature category, rounded out the top five in its ninth weekend of release, taking in $800,000. Directed by Wen Muye and starring Shen Teng, Jiang Qiming, Aarif Rahman, and Omar Sherif, the enduring summer blockbuster has lifted its cume to $353 million since opening on Aug. 11.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMainland China\u2019s overall weekend box office dropped to $30.8 million as theatrical traffic normalized in the wake of the National Day holiday rush.
