Shane Gillis is in hot water for multiple reasons after his divisive return<\/a> to Saturday Night Live this weekend.<\/p>\n

The comedian, 38, raised eyebrows when he accidentally blurted out \u201cf***\u201d in a Dr. Seuss-themed skit during Saturday\u2019s show<\/a>. <\/p>\n

In the sketch, Gillis played a concerned son who is trying to stop Sam-I-Am, played by Andrew Dismukes, from harassing his father, Mikey Day, to eat green eggs and ham. He told Dismukes: \u201cBro, it\u2019s a non-starter. He said he doesn\u2019t f***ing \u2014 jeez \u2014 like \u2018em.\u201d<\/p>\n

He was visibly flustered after the on-air blunder, which happened too fast for NBC to censor out in the live broadcast, although it was edited out of clips put online. <\/p>\n

Gillis quickly apologized to the audience at the end of the show while saying goodnight to the crowd alongside musical guest Rosalia, adding, \u201cSorry about earlier.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, it seems the podcaster was focused on the wrong controversy.<\/a><\/p>\n

Gillis has been met with a mountain of backlash on social media <\/a>after he described women who go to the gym as \u201cwhores\u201d in his opening monologue on the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t been to the gym in so long, I didn\u2019t realize women just dressed like whores now,\u201d Gillis said at the start of the episode, prompting groaning and jeering from the audience as he spoke about activewear. \u201cLook, I\u2019m sorry there\u2019s no other way to describe it.\u201d<\/p>\n

One person wrote on X: \u201cI dont know what turns my stomach more, the fact that Shane Gillis was on Saturday Night Live tonight and said women at the gym \u2018dress like whores\u2019 or that there was people in that audience who found his disgusting bit of so-called humor funny.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen did it become cool to call women whores b\/c of their clothing? I quit watching after about half of the Shane Gillis monologue, it was so disgusting,\u201d another complained, while one viewer added, \u201cShane Gillis choosing now of all times to do a monologue slutshaming ordinary women for what they wear is genuinely disgusting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another person pointed out, \u201cWhen Shane Gillis apologized, it took me too long to realize it was for saying f*** and not calling women whores.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Independent has contacted Gillis for further comment.<\/p>\n

Although this marked his third time hosting the show, Gillis previously had a complicated history with SNL. He was hired as a cast member on the show in 2019 alongside Bowen Yang<\/a> and Chloe Fineman, but was fired before ever making his debut<\/a> after podcast clips resurfaced of him making homophobic and racist jokes.<\/p>\n

After his firing, Gillis apologized to \u201canyone actually offended\u201d by his comedy,<\/a> and described himself in a statement as a \u201ccomedian who pushes boundaries.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you go through my 10 years of comedy, most of it bad, you\u2019re going to find a lot of bad misses,\u201d he said at the time. \u201cI\u2019m happy to apologize to anyone who\u2019s actually offended by anything I\u2019ve said.
