(WLOS) \u2014 The city of Hendersonville said thousands of gallons of untreated wastewater were discharged on Oct. 10, 2026, amid heavy rain from Isaias.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wlos.com\/news\/local\/rainfall-totals-are-in-from-isaias-parts-of-western-north-carolina-get-over-8-inches-busick-helene-yancey-county-crooked-creek-hendersonvill-henderson-county-asheville-regional-airport-flooding\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ISAIAS DUMPS 8 INCHES OF RAIN ON PARTS OF WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA<\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to a news release from Hendersonville Water and Sewer, the discharge occurred at a manhole near Orleans Avenue and Kensington Road just after 11 p.m., releasing about 4,350 gallons of wastewater.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"A map showing the approximate location of a sewage discharge in Hendersonville on Oct. 10. (Photo: WLOS)<\/p>\n<p>The wastewater entered Brittain Creek in the French Broad River Basin, city officials said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wlos.com\/news\/local\/isaias-stein-josh-governor-weather-flooding-western-north-carolina-tornado-power-outages-resccues-lanslides-wnc-community\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">FLOODING, TORNADO RISK LINGERS IN NORTH CAROLINA AS ISAIAS REMNANTS MOVE OUT<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The city&#8217;s water department said the discharge was caused by a partial main line blockage and inflow and infiltration.<\/p>\n<p>The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality&#8217;s Division of Water Resources was notified of the discharge Sunday, Oct. 11, and will review the incident, according to the city.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"HENDERSONVILLE, N.C.
