For a sizable share of the audience, the assignment was compromised before kickoff, and social media spent much of the morning branding the broadcast a three-hour Eagles infomercial.

Of course, it doesn’t help that Kelce came into Sunday’s broadcast having already referred to the Eagles as “we” on national television less than two weeks earlier. During halftime of Eagles-Bears on Monday Night Countdown, Pat McAfee flagged Kelce’s choice of pronoun, prompting a sheepish Kelce to apologize to Bears fans on air. What started as a halftime joke quickly spiraled into a days-long saga. Ryan Clark rallied behind his former colleague on X, insisting Kelce had earned the right to say “we,” and McAfee fired back with a bizarre rant on his eponymous show, telling anyone who took his jab seriously that they had no brain and that he hoped they would rot.

With Jacksonville next on the Eagles’ schedule and Jaguars fans voicing their dread online, Kelce used the latest episode of New Heights to make a preemptive peace offering.

“I want to assure Jags fans I’ve seen a lot of the Jags accounts already saying that they’re not looking forward to this,” Kelce said. “I will be doing my utmost to give you guys the credit you deserve. Jacksonville’s playing as good as any team right now in the AFC. I really do believe that.”

The pledge only went so far, given there were stretches Sunday when Kelce seemed to be viewing the game through Kelly green-tinted glasses, including one instance in which he again referred to the Eagles as “we” as Philadelphia handed the ball back to Jacksonville.

1. We didn’t even see the punt. Thanks ESPN.
2. Jason Kelce literally said “We” when talking about the Eagles giving the Jaguars the ball back

— Adam (@HypeIsHereMedia) October 11, 2026

And yet, for the second straight week, Kelce made a pretty convincing case that he belongs in a booth. One week after stealing the show in his debut during Colts-Commanders, he was again at his best breaking down what was happening along the line of scrimmage. It wasn’t flawless, though. Just as he did in his debut, Kelce tended to monopolize the conversation, and Kurt Warner was too often left waiting for an opening that never came. And The Ringer’s Bryan Curtis wrote that the end of the game, as Philadelphia let a late lead slip away, was a reminder that Kelce is still learning how to do this.

The end of the game was a reminder that Jason Kelce is still learning how to do this.

— Bryan Curtis (@bryancurtis) October 11, 2026

Those growing pains were anticipated. Jeff Dufine, a longtime ESPN producer in his first year running the network’s international game broadcasts, told The Philadelphia Inquirer ahead of the game that the crew had already been working on Kelce’s pronoun problem.

“We’ve tried to get the ‘we’ out of him,” Dufine said.

Dufine noted the slip is common among former players and coaches discussing their old teams, and he was far more effusive about everything else Kelce brings. The producer knew over the summer that Kelce would need reps before his national debut and arranged a preseason practice broadcast in Houston —Texans vs. Chargers — with Pasch and Warner, where Kelce’s eye for small details stood out immediately.

“He sees the game really well,” Dufine said. “Just tell me what you’re seeing, and we’ll support you the best way we can throughout the course of the game.”

The bias complaints haven’t moved Fox off Joe Davis, who will call every Dodgers game this October regardless of the outcry. Kelce’s next assignment, Steelers-Saints in France on Oct. 25, spares ESPN from confronting the same question for now, but whether the network hands him another Eagles game remains to be seen.

Much like Joe Davis, who spent Sunday night fending off accusations of Dodgers bias while calling the NLCS…

[63
257533,1811,4143,369995,248790,349,369996,13319,1239,99
post-880682","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-nfl","tag-dave-pasch","tag-jacksonville-jaguars","tag-jason-kelce","tag-jeff-dufine","tag-kurt-warner","tag-nfl","tag-nfl-london-games","tag-nfl-network","tag-philadelphia-eagles","tag-sports
["GET
