SANTA CRUZ \u2014 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps freshman golfer Kate Keith is two for two.<\/p>\n
The Athenas\u2019 freshman won her second tournament in as many starts after she rallied with a 4-under-par 68 in the second-round to earn medalist honors at the second annual Hollins Cup at Pasatiempo Golf Club on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Keith, an Alamo native and alumna of Carondelet High in Concord, finished with a 3-under 141 total at the 13-team event, which featured six NCAA Division III teams ranked in top 10 of the Women\u2019s Golf Coaches Association\u2019s first Fall rankings, including No. 1 Emory.<\/p>\n
Keith opened her collegiate career by sharing medalist honors with UC Santa Cruz\u2019s Samantha Shaw and Pomona-Pitzer\u2019s Annabelle Chan at the CA State Intercollegiate in Ventura on Sept. 15.<\/p>\n

UC Santa Cruz junior Samantha Shaw tied for ninth place to lead the Banana Slugs at the second annual Hollins Cup at Pasatiempo Golf Club on Tuesday. No. 19 nationally ranked UCSC took fourth out of 13 teams. (Shmuel Thaler – Santa Cruz Sentinel)<\/p>\n
Keith trailed the leaders by three strokes after the first round, but opened the second round with birdie on hole No. 1, one of the four birdies she carded over 13 straight bogey-free holes. She atoned for her lone bogey on the par-4 14th hole by carding birdie on the par-3 18th.<\/p>\n
Emory, the two-time defending national champion, produced three of next four placers.<\/p>\n
Eagles sophomore Amanda Zheng, the WGCA D-III National Freshman of the Year in 2025-26, closed with an even-par 72 and took second place with a 1-over 145 total. And junior teammate Zimo Li closed with 73 for a 148 total and third place.<\/p>\n
Redlands senior Savanah Christenson shot 72, five strokes better than she shot in the first round, to post a 149 total for fourth place.<\/p>\n
Eagles senior Esther Jung finished with 78 and a 150 total and fifth place.<\/p>\n
UC Santa Cruz was led by Shaw, freshman Jocelyn Choi, and junior Adeline Truong and took fourth in the team standings with a 44-over total.<\/p>\n
Shaw, a junior, shot a 153 total and tied for ninth, Choi (154) took 12th, and Truong (155) tied for 14th.<\/p>\n
Junior Olivia Lew (161) also scored for the Banana Slugs. She tied for 36th.<\/p>\n
Emory shot 19 over to repeat as team champion. No. 6 C-M-S took second at 29 over, and No. 4 Washington-St. Louis was third at 39 over.<\/p>\n
The No. 19 Banana Slugs (44 over) should climb in the next rankings after finishing ahead of No. 4 Washington and Lee (50 over), the fifth-place finisher, and No. 2 Carnegie Mellon (52 over) in sixth.<\/p>\n
UCSC next competes at the Golfweek D-III October Classic at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Miramar Beach, Florida, on Oct. 18-20.<\/p>\n
