She sold it a decade ago, but says her family, including 2 grown children and her husband, has been eyeing a return to golf for years. This bid, she says, is their shot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">City council is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wwnytv.com\/2026\/09\/08\/watertown-looks-lease-out-golf-course\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wwnytv.com\/2026\/09\/08\/watertown-looks-lease-out-golf-course\/\">looking at bids to run the course<\/a> and operations next season as a way to cut costs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The city has lost money running the golf course over the past 3 years with the 2025 season scoring around an $85,000 loss. 2026 numbers aren\u2019t in yet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Doane says she can bring down operating expenses and hopes to keep the golf course a treasure in the park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">City Hall had no comment on the bid.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">City council can accept or reject the bid. Some council members are still willing to have the city run the course for another season to see if the finances improve.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WWNY.
