A new spot to help local residents meet their fitness goals is on the way near downtown Columbia.<\/p>\n
HUSTL Athletic Club, a gym that will offer fitness classes, weight training, endurance training and more, is currently in development at 1815 Barnwell St. in Columbia. That\u2019s near the intersection of Barnwell and Laurel streets, not far from the city of Columbia\u2019s fire department headquarters and Mack\u2019s Cash Grocery restaurant.<\/p>\n
The new members-only athletic club for adults will be in a 10,500-square-foot building at 1815 Barnwell. The business is tentatively set to open in December, per founder and owner Travis Tourville, and construction and prep work was still ongoing and progressing nicely when a reporter recently stopped by for a visit.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe like this location so much,\u201d Tourville said while giving a tour of the facility. \u201cWe were looking for a big space, and this is more than 10,000 square feet. We loved this area, because of the (nearby) Bull Street growth and Main Street growth. I want (the gym) to be near where people work. That was important to me.\u201d<\/p>\n
HUSTL<\/a> \u2014 the acronym stands for Heart, Unity, Strength, Toughness and Leadership \u2014 will offer a host of amenities and programs, including high-output conditioning, strength-focused weight training (the facility\u2019s gym equipment is from Lexington-headquartered Sorinex<\/a>), Pilates, yoga, personal training and more. The club says on its website<\/a> that its goal is to create a community where people can \u201cinvest in themselves while building meaningful relationships with others who share that same mindset.\u201d<\/p>\n The club, which will soon begin offering founders memberships and releasing rates and other information, also will have a host of post-workout recovery amenities, including men\u2019s and women\u2019s luxury locker rooms, dry saunas, IceVault cold therapy rooms, private changing areas, and a lounge with heated recliners, compression boots, massage guns and other offerings.<\/p>\n Tourville said the goal is for HUSTL to be a multi-faceted club that helps members in myriad ways, both in physical fitness and overall well-being. There will be health and wellness seminars, run clubs and various member events and gatherings.<\/p>\n \u201cWe really want to be intentional about educating members outside of physical health,\u201d Tourville said. \u201cEducating them in recovery, mental health, financial health and doing a lot to help our audiences to understand the benefits of holistic, overall health and wellness.\u201d<\/p>\n Parker Lippold, HUSTL Athletic Club\u2019s general manager, also keyed on coming facility\u2019s focus on the broader well-being of members, from fitness and strength classes to post-workout recovery.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s really an ecosystem between the training, our cold and hot therapy, and the recovery aspect,\u201d Lippold said. \u201cWe really want to be a holistic gym where we kind of touch on a little bit of everything.\u201d<\/p>\n Tourville noted HUSTL will be a space that is welcoming to those who are experienced in workouts and physical fitness, as well as those who are beginners on their fitness journey.<\/p>\n \u201cWe want people to walk into these spaces and feel like they belong, and feel like it is a part of them and that they are very welcomed,\u201d Tourville said. \u201cWe want it to be a space where they can come in and feel like they can be themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n HUSTL Athletic Club is in development at 1815 Barnwell Street in Columbia, SC.
