President Donald Trump has canceled plans to livestream the execution of Nidal Hasan, who was convicted in the 2009 Fort Hood shooting.

The president said he still believes publicly showing the execution could have served as a deterrent but acknowledged that “many people would rather not watch someone die.”

The decision comes after bipartisan backlash, with House Speaker Mike Johnson opposing the livestream and Vice President JD Vance saying he “wouldn’t watch it.”

Hasan was convicted of killing 13 people and wounding 32 others in the 2009 shooting at Fort Hood. He is still scheduled to be executed by firing squad on Dec. 3, which would mark the first U.S. military execution in more than 65 years.

Victims’ immediate family members will still be allowed to witness the execution in person.

President Trump announced the cancellation of plans to livestream the execution of Nidal Hasan, convicted of the 2009…

[2
370847,4,450,25405,26534,370846,160917,451,331853,75672,6009,370845,8685,31508,15247,13410,3,370844,15652,942,3238,452,453,3479,24370,273932,2394
post-883506","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-breaking-news","tag-bipartisan-backlash","tag-breaking-news","tag-breakingnews","tag-decision","tag-execution","tag-fort-hood-shooter","tag-fort-hood","tag-headlines","tag-house-speaker-mike-johnson","tag-immediate-family-member","tag-jd-vance","tag-live-execution","tag-livestream","tag-many-people","tag-mcnd","tag-mike-johnson","tag-news","tag-nidal-hasan","tag-plan","tag-president-donald-trump","tag-public","tag-top-stories","tag-topstories","tag-trump","tag-victim","tag-wjcl","tag-year
["GET
