Battlefield 6 Season 5, \u201cSiege of Vegas,\u201d was released earlier this week, and the reaction so far has been mixed. Among the highlights is Area 51, a new map that fans have generally been praising as one of the game\u2019s best<\/a>. Among the low points is another set of season pass cosmetics that have players\u2019 genAI alarm bells ringing.<\/p>\n

Those cosmetics include<\/a> a guy with a bunch of extra magazines buckled to his vest, one with five pistols holstered, and someone with a security patch on their arm that reads \u201cSecuty.\u201d \u201cWhy tf does this dude have FIVE pistols on him?\u201d one fan wrote on the Battlefield 6 subreddit earlier this week<\/a>. \u201cThis new Season 5 battle pass skin has five identical pistols on his kit. The cringe mask is one thing but who at BF Studios approves these dumb af character designs?\u201d<\/p>\n

Another wrote<\/a>, \u201cMagazine design on the second guy makes absolutely zero sense lol looks like AI-generated\u2026then there\u2019s the guy with the five pistols, the most egregious one is the fucking misspelled security patch lol.\u201d<\/p>\n

I actually understand why people use Ai to make things. I’m not dense. I understand the motivations.<\/p>\n

Multiple posts on the subject have blown up with thousands of upvotes and comments since season 5 went live. Adding insult to injury is that the chaotic designs were being sold as part of the season pass. \u201cCharging players $$$ for AI generated content is peak disrespect,\u201d read another thread<\/a> in the subreddit.<\/p>\n

While there\u2019s no confirmation that the designs were the result of genAI, this wouldn\u2019t be the first time Battlefield 6 was caught getting sloppy. EA\u2019s hit shooter shipped seemingly AI-generated cosmetics just months after the game launched and didn\u2019t end up patching them out until months after that<\/a>. It probably hasn\u2019t helped that some Battlefield developers were laid off<\/a> earlier this year, even as EA\u2019s executives have banked millions amid a highly leveraged sale to Saudi Arabia<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And even if the developers ultimately decide to leave designs like five-guns-guy intact, things like the misspelled arm patch aren\u2019t easily fixed, either. After all, it doesn\u2019t just misspell \u201csecurity,\u201d it has the word \u201csecuty\u201d plastered right above the words \u201csecurity operator.\u201d I don\u2019t think any human artist would have shipped that by accident.
