Anna Faris is reeling over former boss Chuck Lorre\u2019s recent dig at her \u201cMom\u201d casting<\/a>, saying the out-of-nowhere diss \u201churts.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYikes. Yes, I read a few things. I really didn\u2019t see that coming,\u201d the \u201cHouse Bunny\u201d actress wrote in a statement<\/a> shared to Instagram Thursday. \u201cOf course it hurts.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cChuck gave me a job I loved, and for seven years I never took a day of it for granted,\u201d she continued. \u201cI\u2019m proud of what we made together, and nothing changes how grateful I am for those people and those years.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYikes,\u201d Faris wrote in a statement shared to Instagram Thursday (as seen above), adding that she \u201cdidn\u2019t see that coming\u201d and \u201cof course it hurt,\u201d but that \u201cnothing changes how grateful [she is] for those people and those years.\u201d Instagram\/@annafarris<\/p>\n

Faris, who said she has been sober for a year and a half<\/a>, then noted how ironic it was that she was \u201con a show about recovery and then [she] lived it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNow I\u2019m healthy, I\u2019m working, and I\u2019m happier than I\u2019ve been in a long time,\u201d she concluded her statement. \u201cIf anyone reading this is where I was, I hope that\u2019s useful. It gets better. I\u2019m proof.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lorre, who co-created \u201cMom,\u201d wrote in his new memoir, \u201cSitcom,\u201d<\/a> that he was initially hesitant to cast Faris in the lead role of the CBS series \u2014 despite her being the network\u2019s first choice.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wasn\u2019t sure Anna would be appropriate for this kind of material,\u201d Lorre, 73, said in his book. \u201cThen I thought about how badly I\u2019d bungled my working relationship with [\u2018Two and a Half Men\u2019 star] Charlie Sheen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lorre wrote in his new memoir, \u201cSitcom\u201d (the cover of which is seen here), that he was initially hesitant to cast Faris on \u201cMom,\u201d which premiered in 2013, despite her being the network\u2019s first choice.<\/p>\n

Further reflecting on his experience with Sheen, the prolific TV creator wrote that he reconsidered his doubts about Faris, writing, \u201cSomeone\u2019s personal life is none of my business. The mom in \u2018Mom\u2019 would be, and should be, Anna Faris.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lorre later added that his initial reservations about hiring Faris to play Christy Plunkett opposite Allison Janney as Bonnie Plunkett had been \u201ccorrect\u201d when she left for \u201cmysterious reasons that were not mysterious to anyone on the show.\u201d<\/p>\n

Faris starred on the sitcom for seven seasons, exiting before the eighth \u2014 and what eventually would be its final \u2014 season. The show aired from 2013 to 2021.<\/p>\n

Lorre went on to praise the later seasons of the show in \u201cSitcom,\u201d writing that \u201c\u2018Mom\u2019 found its true voice\u201d by showing that \u201cthere is hope, and there is laughter in overcoming the seemingly fatal disease of alcoholism.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also criticized CBS for canceling the series, noting that the network \u201cdecided they could live without a perfect cast led by a national treasure,\u201d referring to Janney.<\/p>\n

Faris opened up about her decision to leave \u201cMom\u201d<\/a> in a June appearance on Josh Horowitz\u2019s \u201cHappy Sad Confused\u201d podcast, saying she \u201cstarted to lose [her] focus\u201d and calling the show a \u201cmarathon.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cScary Movie\u201d actress said her exit from the \u201cintense, amazing project\u201d came at a \u201ccomplicated time.\u201d<\/p>\n
