It follows Christy Plunkett, a single mother who restarts her life after dealing with alcohol and substance abuse.<\/p>\n<p>The series ran for an eighth season without Faris.<\/p>\n<p>Lorre, who was also behind Two and A Half Men and The Big Bang Theory, wrote in his new memoir Sitcom that her unexpected departure validated his initial doubts about casting her in the show.<\/p>\n<p>Faris said on Instagram: \u201cYikes. Yes, I read a few things. I really didn\u2019t see that coming. Of course it hurts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChuck gave me a job I loved, and for seven years I never took a day of it for granted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m proud of what we made together, and noting changes how grateful I am for those people and those years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been sober for a year-and-a-half.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was on a show about recovery and then I lived it. Now I\u2019m healthy, I\u2019m working, and I\u2019m happier than I\u2019ve been in a long time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf anyone reading this is where I was, I hope that\u2019 useful. It gets better. I\u2019m proof.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/2.13493931.jpg\" alt=\"\u2018The Dictator\u2019 UK Premiere \u2013 London\" data-title=\"\u2018The Dictator\u2019 UK Premiere \u2013 London\" data-copyright-holder=\"PA Archive\" data-copyright-notice=\"PA Archive\/PA Images\" data-credit=\"Yui Mok\" data-usage-terms=\"\"  \/>Anna Faris arriving at the Dictator UK film premiere held at the Royal Festival Hall, London (Yui Mok\/PA)<\/p>\n<p>Lorre claimed in his memoir that Faris left the show \u201cfor mysterious reasons that were not mysterious to anyone on the show\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Faris starred opposite Allison Janney on the series and has previously spoken about being sober after struggling with her mental health and taking a step back from acting.<\/p>\n<p>In an episode of the Dear Chelsea podcast, she said: \u201cI was at a point in my life when I was kind of feeling that my career was being put out to the pasture a little bit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was just having a distant relationship with this city and my career and wondering if I had enough money to retire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She went on to say that she felt \u201cdisturbed by my lack of ambition\u201d and that in hindsight was \u201cpretty depressed\u201d without recognising it.<\/p>\n<p>Faris, who rose to fame as Cindy in the Scary Movie franchise, reprised the role for the sixth film which was released earlier this summer and also starred\u00a0opposite Leslie Mann, Isla Fisher, and Michelle Buteau in the comedy Spa Weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Faris shares a son, Jack, with her ex-husband Hollywood actor Chris Pratt who she divorced in 2017 after eight years of marriage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Faris, 49, starred in Lorre\u2019s sitcom for seven seasons, from 2013 until 2020.
