The Brooklyn shop feuding with Kelly Clarkson over its $15,000 mechanical bird<\/a> is trying to connect with the singer.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have not heard from Kelly but have reached out via multiple channels,\u201d a source in the Art of Play neighborhood exclusively told Page Six.<\/p>\n

While the store waits to hear back from the \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d winner, it certainly has locals in its corner following the drama.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve experienced such an outpouring of support from neighbors and visitors to the store,\u201d the source said. \u201cAnyone who stops by can plainly see. Other businesses have dropped off gift bags and sent flowers.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have gotten nothing but love in real life. The hatred continues online, but they stopped looking days ago,\u201d the source continued.<\/p>\n

The store \u2014 which sells items like collectible playing cards, puzzles, games and other whimsical home goods \u2014 has experienced a boom in interest since making headlines with Clarkson.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have absolutely been seeing increased foot traffic with many people coming just to take a selfie with Molly,\u201d a regular customer said of the mechanical bird at the center of the drama.<\/p>\n

Prior to the national attention from the \u201cVoice\u201d coach, the store was already a staple for wealthy visitors.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey get the same repeat customers all of the time,\u201d the shopper said. \u201cIt\u2019s always busy. Everything is delicate.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clarkson called out store staffers<\/a> in an X rant last weekend, claiming that she was treated like Julia Roberts\u2019 character in \u201cPretty Woman\u201d during her visit.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust drove all the way to Brooklyn to check out this store I thought looked really rad and had a few things in mind to buy and literally was looked at as if I couldn\u2019t afford it and was told he could find something comparable for me,\u201d she wrote in the post.<\/p>\n

\u201cWow, dude. You\u2019re an idiot and just lost a huge sale. But y\u2019all should go check out Art of Play in Brooklyn if you enjoy being treated like Julia Roberts character in Pretty Woman. For sure, check it out \ud83d\udc4e,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

After taking heat from Clarkson\u2019s fanbase, the store owners responded in a statement<\/a>, explaining that Clarkson inquired about purchasing a large mechanical bird named \u201cMolly\u201d that wasn\u2019t for sale.<\/p>\n

Clarkson fired back in a follow-up post accusing the store of lying.<\/p>\n

\u201cCool, cool. Sure, it wasn\u2019t for sale. That\u2019s the narrative Art of Play is gonna go with \ud83d\udc4d,\u201d she wrote on X. \u201cSo the whole conversation we had when I asked you if it was for sale whilst pointing to the price tag hanging on the wall with the title Singing Bird didn\u2019t happen as you elevator eyed me saying in a condescending tone \u2018yes, it\u2019s for sale but it costs 15,000 dollars so if you\u2019d like me to find something comparable for you I can.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat all never happened and now it\u2019s not for sale. Okay, cool. So you\u2019re not only rude, you\u2019re also a liar. Got it \u2705.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also shared a photo of the feathered automaton next to what appeared to be a $15,000 price tag.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cShe did not take out her Black Card and try to buy the thing off the wall. She was not told no, she was not told to leave,\u201d Rubin said.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe asked about the bird. It\u2019s on the wall, and attached permanently. It was explained to her that it\u2019s a complicated situation to get these things made,\u201d he continued. \u201cThey take years. There\u2019s one guy that makes them, and if we have seriously interested buyers, then we talk to the artist and try to work something out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Instead, Rubin claimed his employee asked if the \u201cSince U Been Gone\u201d artist wanted to view a similar automaton priced at $2,000.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s just like [a] he-said, she-said thing, right?\u201d Rubin said. \u201cSo she\u2019s going to say one thing, I\u2019m going to say another thing. The point of it is, nothing happened in the shop that was so dramatic that it\u2019s worth throwing a Molotov cocktail into a mom-and-pop business.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reps for Clarkson did not immediately return requests for comment.<\/p>\n

Rubin accused Clarkson of wielding her celebrity status <\/a>to publicly attack a small business, claiming that he and his staffers were subsequently inundated with hateful messages.<\/p>\n

Rubin noted that no one in the store recognized Clarkson and that she was treated just like any other customer. He also said that, despite their feud, she is welcome back in his store anytime.<\/p>\n

Leaked security footage <\/a>from Clarkson\u2019s visit showed the \u201cBreakaway\u201d singer, dressed casually in a baseball cap and oversized tee, browsing the shop for less than five minutes before appearing to scold staffers and storm out.<\/p>\n
