Rochester, N.Y. \u2014 Local residents have a new place to work out outdoors after the City of Rochester unveiled a free fitness court at Genesee Valley Park on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The outdoor gym, located near the playground at 1316 Genesee St., features seven exercise stations that allow users to get a full-body workout using their own body weight.<\/p>\n
The fitness court is designed for people ages 14 and older, with exercises that can be adapted for different fitness levels and abilities.<\/p>\n
“Staying active and spending time outdoors is key for strong physical, mental and emotional health,” said Dr. Shirley Green, commissioner of the city’s Department of Recreation and Human Services. “With this fitness court, our community can access all of those benefits, and they are free.”<\/p>\n
The project marks Rochester’s second outdoor fitness court, joining an existing location at Cobbs Hill Park<\/a>.<\/p>\n
