MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. (KABC) — A surfer in Manhattan Beach caught more than just waves recently.<\/p>\n

Video posted to social media shows a shark swimming close to shore. Its dorsal fin is clearly visible as it glides through the water.<\/p>\n

It’s unclear what type of shark was spotted, but the surfer who captured the video on Friday says it’s the first one he’s ever seen in Manhattan Beach.<\/p>\n

Several shark species are commonly found in local waters, including juvenile great white sharks.<\/p>\n

Experts say warmer waters from this season’s El Ni\u00f1o are attracting unusual sea creatures across the Southern California coast.<\/p>\n

Two historic sea turtle nests discovered in Southern California have been confirmed to belong to two different endangered olive ridley sea turtles.<\/p>\n

Two rare olive ridley sea turtle nests<\/a>\u00a0were recently discovered in Southern California — the first time the species has ever been documented on the West Coast.<\/p>\n

Hammerhead sharks, whale sharks, marlin and rare devil rays<\/a> have also been appearing off the SoCal coast. Experts say sea temperatures farther south have become too warm for some species to remain in their typical habitats.<\/p>\n

El Ni\u00f1o conditions off the coast are bringing a host of unusual sea creatures to Southern California.<\/p>\n
