Eric Dane detailed the drug addiction he struggled with during his 20s in his posthumous memoir, \u201cMy Book of Days: A Memoir in Moments.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI call that my dark period. I auditioned for a few roles, got cast in some, but mainly I did drugs,\u201d the \u201cGrey\u2019s Anatomy\u201d alum wrote in an excerpt obtained by People<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI got high, I got stoned, I got wasted, I shot up, I freebased, I did every drug imaginable,\u201d he shared before running down the staggering list of drugs he tried.<\/p>\n

\u201cHere\u2019s a partial list: Booze, pot, acid. Heroin. Cocaine. Mushrooms. Mescaline. Crystal meth. Crack. Painkillers. Fistfuls of painkillers. Buckets of painkillers. Vicodin, Percocet, OxyContin, you name it, everything on the market,\u201d Dane penned.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll the benzos. Xanax. Valium. All the muscle relaxers. All the uppers. Adderall. Ritalin,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think there\u2019s a drug I didn\u2019t try.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in the book, Dane recalled when his youngest daughter, Georgia, 14, saved him from drowning during a family vacation<\/a> to Antigua following his Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) diagnosis<\/a> in 2025.<\/p>\n

The \u201cLast Ship\u201d alum said he lost his ability to swim while in the water.<\/p>\n

Dane passed away<\/a> on Feb. 19, less than one year after he\u00a0announced his ALS diagnosis. He was 53.<\/p>\n

The actor is survived by wife Rebecca Gayheart and their two daughters (all seen above in 2022). rebeccagayheartdane\/Instagram<\/p>\n

Dane\u2019s posthumous memoir, \u201cMy Book of Days: A Memoir in Moments,\u201d will be released in November. The Open Field<\/p>\n

Per his death certificate, the \u201cEuphoria\u201d actor\u00a0died of respiratory failure<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Additionally, his underlying cause of death was a result of ALS, a progressive nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, per Mayo Clinic<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dane is survived by his two daughters<\/a>, Billie, 16, and Georgia, whom he shares with wife Rebecca Gayheart.<\/p>\n
