\n President Donald Trump early Monday doubled down on his plan to close and renovate a public Washington, DC, golf course<\/a>, saying construction would begin \u201cIMMEDIATELY\u201d despite a judge\u2019s order to provide three days\u2019 notice ahead of any construction.\n <\/p>\n

\n Trump wrote in a Truth Social post<\/a> that the government does not \u201cneed an approval\u201d to proceed with the construction.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cWork is scheduled to begin IMMEDIATELY! The finished product will be World Class, and bring income and great prestige back to D.C.,\u201d he wrote.\n <\/p>\n

\n The president had previously said on Sunday that construction would begin next month.\n <\/p>\n

\n But his plan to renovate the golf course is already the subject of a legal fight as preservationists and golfers seek to stop the president from changing the public park.\n <\/p>\n

\n US District Judge Ana C. Reyes, who is overseeing the case, issued an order last week that requires the government to give at least three days\u2019 notice before making any \u201cirreparable modification\u201d to the course.\n <\/p>\n

\n Her ruling followed a testy hearing<\/a> in which she said she was \u201cfurious\u201d with the government for removing hundreds of trees without proper notice. The government claimed the removals were routine maintenance unrelated to any plan to renovate the golf course. Reyes ordered that no more trees be cut down before October 26.\n <\/p>\n

\n The government on Friday filed a motion asking for Reyes\u2019 removal from the case<\/a>, accusing her of having a \u201cdisdain for the Trump Administration.\u201d Reyes denied that motion and refuted the government\u2019s claims against her.\n <\/p>\n

\n In his Monday post to Truth Social, Trump disparaged Reyes a \u201ccrazed lunatic.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n The course is one of several renovation projects Trump is working on in Washington. The president\u2019s desire to turn the public course into a professional course \u2014 a renovation that could cost between $20 million and $49 million \u2014 has angered those who fear it may take away a public and affordable place to play golf in the nation\u2019s capital.\n <\/p>\n

\n Another hearing in the case is scheduled to be held later on Monday.\n <\/p>\n
