\n\tOzzy Osbourne<\/a> got to say goodbye exactly as he wanted to at last July\u2019s epic Back to the Beginning blowout<\/a> in Birmingham, England. Now, producer Andrew Watt \u2014\u00a0who helmed the final two LP\u2019s the late metal legend recorded before his death, 2020\u2019s Ordinary Man and 2022\u2019s Patient Number 9 \u2014\u00a0has revealed that he and Osbourne recorded as-yet-unheard music that they listened to the night before Ozzy\u2019s swan song.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThere are some songs that we made for a specific reason,\u201d Watt told Rolling Stone in this week\u2019s episode of The Rolling Stone Studio. \u201cAnd yeah, that\u2019s all I can say. They\u2019re hard for me to listen to. I haven\u2019t listened to them.\u201d Watt said there is a plan for what to do with the tracks, but he isn\u2019t at liberty to discuss that yet.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe night before the concert, I actually went in Birmingham with [Osbourne\u2019s wife\/manager] Sharon and a couple of people to go get a curry, and I was texting with Ozzy. He was in his hotel room, and he was, like, \u2018Come to the hotel, come to the hotel. I was sitting with Sharon and we were both like, \u2018He has a big day tomorrow. Maybe I shouldn\u2019t go, \u2018cause he\u2019ll get excited and everything,’\u201d Watt recalled. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBut he was, like, \u2018No, you\u2019re coming to the hotel. You are coming.\u2019 So I went. I brought a curry with me and sat with him,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd he was drawing like he usually does, and we sat and we listened to the stuff that we\u2019d made, and made notes. That, and the next day, were the last times I got to see him. But we had a beautiful listening session and talked about a lot of stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWatt said it\u2019s hard to dredge up those memories now. \u201cI miss him every day,\u201d he said of the hard rock legend, who died 17 days after<\/a> the Back to the Beginning show at on July 22 at age 76.<\/p>\n

\n\tWatt also responded to Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi recently saying that he didn\u2019t want to commit to a planned final Sabbath album because he felt Watt was \u201ca bit too excited<\/a>\u201d about it. The producer said he thought the comments were taken out of context while copping to being an \u201cexcited musician\u201d and person. <\/p>\n

\n\tAfter working on those two solo Ozzy albums, Watt said Osbourne suggested they make one last Sabbath album, this time with the band\u2019s original drummer, Bill Ward, who was not involved in the group\u2019s 2013 reunion album, 13.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI think looking back at all the stuff he wanted to do, making an album with Bill was really important to him,\u201d Watt said of Osbourne. \u201cAnd this was before Back To The Beginning was happening and everything. I think the idea of doing something with Bill was very, very important, and so one of the first incarnations of that was a potential album.\u201d Watt said Ozzy told him to call up Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and Ward to get them on board. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSo, I called Tony. [I said,] \u2018Would you wanna do it?\u2019 [He said,] \u2018Yeah, that sounds cool. If Bill would do it, yes.\u2019 Geezer [said], \u2018If Bill would do it, yes.\u2019 It was all about, \u2018If Bill would do it, yes.\u2019 So then I had to have a conversation with Bill. And that was one of the strangest and funniest and coolest, at the same time, because you\u2019re talking to Bill Ward, conversations. It was a long conversation. He was speaking in tongues, which, now knowing him and being friends with him, makes sense. Long story short, without going into it too deeply, he was unable to do the album for personal reasons.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe only thing to come of it was a \u201cnice, beautiful, long e-mail\u201d sent to everyone involved, which, though the project fell apart, was a huge moment for Watt. \u201cI was on an e-mail with the original members of Black Sabbath, which was pretty cool,\u201d he said of the project that ended up falling apart because Ward was not available.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film documenting Osbourne\u2019s final gig, Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning, will be released in theaters on October 28<\/a>.<\/p>\n
