An Iowa native won $3 million with a 33-yard field goal during ESPN\u2019s College GameDay last weekend.<\/p>\n

Carter Smith, a Brigham Young University freshman from the western Iowa town of Honey Creek, earned $2 million for himself and $1 million for charity with the successful kick. Smith didn’t play football at Underwood High School but did play soccer, BYU\u2019s student newspaper reported. <\/p>\n
His first attempt missed, but he adjusted for his second try.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously, when I got a second opportunity, I was so relieved,” said Smith, who was dressed as Spider-Man for his big moment. “I felt like I had a second chance. I felt like I could kick in a different spot, because the first time I kicked low and to the right. I aimed high and to the left, and it worked out.”<\/p>\n

Smith, who plans to become a dentist, said he intends to invest the money.<\/p>\n
