\n Sponsored by the Duchy of Cornwall, the award celebrates individuals and organisations making a meaningful difference to mental wellbeing across Herefordshire.\n<\/p>\n
\n The group impressed judges with its peer-to-peer approach, creating a safe and welcoming environment where men can talk openly about their struggles and find support from others who have faced similar challenges.\n<\/p>\n
\n Judges heard how the organisation has helped bring several people back from the brink of suicide and continues to offer support throughout the year, including through its annual Men’s Mental Health Conference.\n<\/p>\n
\n Accepting the award, Chris Reynolds said the recognition meant a great deal to everyone involved.\n<\/p>\n
\n “It’s fantastic that we could be voted for by our peers for an award like this. It’s absolutely brilliant,” he said.\n<\/p>\n
\n He explained that the group’s success comes from its relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.\n<\/p>\n
\n “The group is very gentle. When people come along, they’re not asked to sit in a circle. They’re not asked to comment when they get the ball in their hands,” he said.\n<\/p>\n
\n “People come in, they get a cup of tea, a cup of coffee, whatever they want from the kitchen. We chat, nobody is forced to say anything.”\n<\/p>\n
\n However, members know support is always available when they need it.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Everybody knows that if they don’t feel good, they only have to go on the WhatsApp group and say, ‘chaps, not feeling good today’,” Mr Reynolds said.\n<\/p>\n
\n “They’ll get support from the other guys in the group who have been through something similar.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Fellow finalists Broomy Hill Nursing Home and We Are Farming Minds were also praised by judges, but it was the life-changing impact of Hereford Men’s Mental Health Group that secured this year’s award.\n<\/p>\n
\n Hereford Men\u2019s Mental Health is a peer support group open to any men in Herefordshire at risk of, suffering from, or recovering from mental illness.
