With another night of clear skies, expect more chilly temperatures. However, this will provide for nearly perfect viewing of the peak time to see the Orionid meteor shower!

If you want to view the Orionid meteor shower, here are specifics:

"Information

Information about the Orionid meteor shower

In short, the Orionid meteor shower occurs when Earth’s orbit intersects the leftovers (very small bits) from Haley’s comet interacting with our atmosphere causing meteor showers to streak across the sky.

While this meteor shower is a much smaller one compared to a bigger one like the Perseid meteor shower, you can typically see 10 to 20 meteor showers per hour, although sometimes you can get more.

NASA put together this quick video for more information about the Orionids:

Even though Wednesday night through dawn Thursday is the peak of the Orionid meteor shower, you still would be able to see them over the next few nights. However, with the moon getting towards nearly 100% full and the fact that the moon will be out nearly all night after Wednesday night, you may want to look tonight.

We also have peak conditions for fall foliage for the lower elevations of CNY!

Here is your updated fall foliage report:

"Update

Update fall foliage report with data from the I Love NY website

While lower elevations have peak fall foliage, you can easily see that higher elevations across all of Upstate New York are now past peak.

Speaking of leaves, you may have quite a few to rake up! If you need to do this or do some yard work or possibly even put up some holiday decorations, I’ve got a forecast for that!

Here is your “Rake or Wait” forecast for the next 4 days:
