Hall of Fame running back and Southern University coach Marshall Faulk has disclosed that he has Parkinson\u2019s disease.<\/p>\n

Via Jack Baer of Yahoo Sports, Faulk revealed the diagnosis in an appearance on the Caring Neurologist podcast.<\/p>\n

\u201cI get a physical twice a year,\u201d Faulk said. \u201cI\u2019m a little anal about my health. I literally asked my doctor because I noticed it as I was playing golf. I noticed the rigidity in my hand after I play a lot or practice a lot, I thought it was just normal nerves when putting and stuff like that. But it started to be times where I wasn\u2019t playing \u2014 I mean, where I was playing, but I wasn\u2019t in a match, and it would still do that.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was like, \u2018Wow, is that something? Is that normal?\u2019 And the doctor was like, \u2018You need to go get checked<\/a>. You need to go have X, Y and Z done.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Faulk, a former NFL MVP, two-time NFL Offensive Player of the Year, three-time first-team All-Pro, and seven-time Pro Bowler, has been receiving treatment and taking medication.<\/p>\n

\u201cSince I\u2019ve started on the medication, I don\u2019t really have a lot of issues,\u201d Faulk said. \u201cI might sleep a little more. . . . Other than that, the rigidity in my hands, I still have that. Can\u2019t say that it\u2019s gotten worse. The little tremors that I get, they are what they are. I just pay attention to my gait, how I walk, when I\u2019m working out, my ability to balance. It\u2019s still where it is.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t look at it as something that\u2019s terminal. It\u2019s like, \u2018Hey, you get to live with this.\u2019 There\u2019s far worse things out there.\u201d<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a known link between Parkinson\u2019s disease and football.
