{"id":892132,"date":"2026-10-23T17:44:09","date_gmt":"2026-10-23T17:44:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/892132\/"},"modified":"2026-10-23T17:44:09","modified_gmt":"2026-10-23T17:44:09","slug":"philadelphia-museum-of-art-to-alter-frank-gehry-renovations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/892132\/","title":{"rendered":"Philadelphia Museum of Art to alter Frank Gehry renovations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From Philly and the Pa. suburbs to South Jersey and Delaware, what would you like WHYY News to cover? <a href=\"#Section1\">Let us know!<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>Five years after the Philadelphia Museum of Art completed <a href=\"https:\/\/whyy.org\/articles\/art-museum-renovation-changes-the-building-and-perspectives\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a $230 million rebuild of its interior<\/a> designed by the late architect Frank Gehry, it will now alter some of that renovation to expand the capacity of its educational programs.\n<\/p>\n<p>The museum has received a $20 million gift from Lois and Julian Brodsky to rebuild parts of its North Entrance into the Brodsky Learning and Engagement Center.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a game changer for us,\u201d museum director and CEO Daniel Weiss said. \u201cHistorically we\u2019ve taken very seriously our educational mission, but we haven\u2019t had dedicated space that allows us to do it at the level we would like.\u201d\n  <\/p>\n<p>Designed by Gehry, the major overhaul was the most extensive change to the building since it opened in 1928 and included multi-function rooms off the North Entrance corridor that could accommodate education programs.\n<\/p>\n<p>Since then, the museum has re-evaluated its needs.
