Hatton, who was referencing the DP World Tour\u2019s Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship from Nov. 5-8 in his post, joins a growing list of former LIV players<\/a> to announce they won\u2019t be returning to LIV in 2027. On Friday, two days ahead of the restructured league\u2019s Oct. 25 deadline for player committment, he wasn\u2019t the only player to say he wouldn\u2019t be returning.<\/p>\n Lucas Herbert and Ian Poulter also said earlier in the day their time with LIV was through. <\/p>\n The league, which lost its funding from Saudi Arabia\u2019s Public Investment Fund<\/a> earlier this year, is in the middle of Chapter 11 bankruptcy. <\/p>\n LIV CEO Scott O\u2019Neil is working to secure up to $300 million in financing from BC Partners Credit<\/a> but needs player buy-in to his new vision of the league.<\/p>\n Hatton\u2019s departure is arguably the biggest blow to O\u2019Neil since Jon Rahm reached a separation agreement earlier this month.<\/p>\n Like Hatton, Rahm is set to play next month in Abu Dhabi<\/a> \u2014 his first event since finalizing his LIV exit.<\/p>\n Hatton, an eight-time winner on the DP World Tour, bested Rahm by two strokes at LIV Golf Andaluc\u00eda<\/a> earlier this year for his second LIV title since signing in January 2024.<\/p>\n The 2020 Arnold Palmer Invitational winner next made headlines when he walked out to Queen\u2019s \u201cI Want To Break Free\u201d at LIV\u2019s season-ending event in Indianapolis in August<\/a>.<\/p>\n Hatton denied reports that the song choice was an intentional signal of his desire to leave LIV, but his quick exit during the Legion XIII team championship celebration didn\u2019t help the perception he would not be returning for another year.<\/p>\n \u201cI think anytime you win is great,\u201d said Hatton the following week after being questioned about his subdued presence at The Club at Chatham Hills.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve traveled around the world together, had some pretty funny times along the way, and as a team we\u2019ve done incredibly well,\u201d added Hatton, noting it was two team titles in a row for Legion XIII. \u201cWinning last year was very special, obviously this time around it\u2019s a little bit different. But it\u2019s nice to defend the title anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n
