<\/p>\nAbdul El-Sayed had some sharp words for Bret Baier when the Fox News anchor pressed him about alleged Muslim Brotherhood ties.<\/p>\n
Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed repeatedly pushed back against Fox News anchor Bret Baier over questions about his alleged ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. <\/p>\n
El-Sayed, 41, is running against Republican Mike Rogers, 63, for a Michigan Senate seat in the upcoming midterms and has been the target of repeated allegations that he has ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. <\/p>\n

Fox News star Bret Baier’s interview with Michigan senatorial candidate Abdul El-Sayed got heated.<\/p>\n
The implication that El-Sayed, who is Muslim, has \u201cdual loyalties\u201d to the United States and the Muslim Brotherhood has been pushed by Rogers\u2019 campaign. The Trump administration has designated certain branches of the organization as terrorist groups.<\/p>\n
On Friday, during an on-the-street interview with Baier, El-Sayed didn\u2019t even let the host finish a question about the issue before he began responding.<\/p>\n
\u201cMike Rogers has been really hitting this Muslim Brotherhood thing. I know you don\u2019t want to talk about your family and the history there, but he goes back\u2014\u201d Baier began.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet me just stop there,\u201d El-Sayed interjected. \u201cYou are asking this question to raise a question about\u2026 about whether or not I have dual loyalty.\u201d<\/p>\n

Baier said he wanted to ask about a 2012 open letter El-Sayed signed concerning Egypt\u2019s then-president Mohamed Morsi, a Muslim Brotherhood leader, but El-Sayed interrupted him again.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy loyalty will be to the Constitution of the United States,\u201d El-Sayed said emphatically. \u201cAnd as every senator who\u2019s ever served, I will swear an oath to the Constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n
The two then went back and forth as Baier pressed him on the allegations. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not interested,\u201d El-Sayed said, again cutting Baier off. <\/p>\n
\u201cYou don\u2019t wanna walk that back?\u201d Baier pushed. <\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re going to pull that out of context,\u201d El-Sayed replied. \u201cDon\u2019t be Rogers\u2019 campaign. Be a journalist,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am,\u201d Baier insisted.<\/p>\n
El-Sayed again disavowed the Muslim Brotherhood. <\/p>\n
\u201cSo, as a journalist, if you\u2019re asking the question about my allegiance to the Constitution, I have never been a member of the Muslim Brotherhood. I never will be. I am interested in serving the United States. I am interested in swearing an oath to the Constitution that every senator has sworn an oath to,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
\u201cIf the question about my faith is the issue, which Mike Rogers wants it to be, I think it is sad and beneath him\u2014and frankly beneath the president of the United States\u2014to make that an issue because under our Constitution, you\u2019re guaranteed the right to pray as you choose to pray.\u201d<\/p>\n

El-Sayed has repeatedly shut down rumors that he has any ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.<\/p>\n
El-Sayed won a hotly contested primary<\/a> for the seat currently held by retiring Democrat Gary Peters.<\/p>\n Footage of a young man named \u201cTommy\u201d challenging El-Sayed to disavow the Brotherhood went viral last weekend, with El-Sayed absolutely dismantling<\/a> the premise of the question. <\/p>\n Tommy turned out to be<\/a> Thomas Teepell, a former staffer for Republican Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri and for a failed Republican gubernatorial candidate in Kansas.<\/p>\n At the Michigan Senate debate on Wednesday, Rogers again claimed El-Sayed had never disavowed the Brotherhood, despite El-Sayed having done so in the exchange with Teepell just days before. <\/p>\n Recent reporting found no evidence that El-Sayed has been affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood.
