LAKELAND, Florida (WWNY) – The former chief executive officer of the financially troubled North Star Health Alliance has found a new job in Florida.<\/p>\n
Richard Duvall has been appointed CEO of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Lakeland. <\/p>\n
New role announced<\/p>\n
A news release<\/a> announcing Duvall\u2019s appointment says he \u201cbrings more than 20 years of healthcare leadership experience to the role, spanning acute care, assisted living and skilled nursing settings.\u201d The release says he \u201chas experience directing strategy, operations and governance across health systems\u201d and is \u201ca proven leader in aligning physician strategy with service line performance and delivering sustainable results that enhance patient care.\u201d<\/p>\n The news release describes the facility as a 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital that serves patients following life-changing events, such as strokes, brain or spinal cord injuries or complex neurological conditions. It opened in 2022.<\/p>\n \u201cI am excited to join Encompass Health Lakeland and lead a team that shares a strong commitment to patient care,\u201d Duvall said in the news release. \u201cI look forward to building on the hospital\u2019s success and working together to ensure patients and families receive high-quality, compassionate rehabilitation services.\u201d<\/p>\n Departure from North Star<\/p>\n Duvall resigned from North Star<\/a> in January, days after the health care system cut 120 jobs<\/a>. North Star operates Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg, Carthage Area Hospital and Meadowbrook Terrace in West Carthage.<\/p>\n
