Sophie Cunningham has had a 2026 full of experiences that have kept her name in the spotlight. In addition to her season with the Indiana Fever, the basketball player has attracted attention for her pregame outfits and projects that have expanded her presence beyond the court. Now, a recent conversation has revealed another avenue she would like to explore: a potential move to television as a contestant on a dance competition show.

During an appearance on the No Hesitation podcast, hosted by Drew Hanlen, Sophie discussed the possibility of competing on Dancing with the Stars, the show where celebrities are paired with professional dancers. When asked how she thought she would do if given the opportunity to compete, she delivered a confident response: “I would kill it.”

Sophie’s confidence doesn’t mean she underestimates the challenge the competition would present. The player acknowledged that while she feels comfortable with the dances she shares on TikTok, the show requires a different level of preparation.

“I’m good with my TikTok dances, but this is like legit dancing,” she explained during the conversation.

Dance has been part of Sophie Cunningham’s life for years

Her interest in the show didn’t come out of nowhere. Sophie revealed that she grew up dancing and has always enjoyed the activity, which helps explain why she can picture herself doing well on the dance floor.

In fact, she said people have been trying to get her on the show for the past couple of years. However, scheduling has been one of the biggest obstacles. According to Sophie, filming typically begins around September, a time of year that has made it difficult for her to commit to the project.

Sophie Cunningham also has to decide her WNBA future

While television presents an exciting possibility, Sophie also has important decisions ahead of her basketball career. Her one-year contract with the Indiana Fever, worth $665,000, has expired, leaving her an unrestricted free agent heading into 2027.

During the 2026 season, she averaged 7.9 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game, shooting 46% from the field and 41.9% from three-point range. Now, it remains to be seen which team will be part of the next chapter of her professional career.

For now, there is no indication that Sophie is considering leaving the WNBA to pursue television full-time. Her comments about Dancing with the Stars simply offer a glimpse into another side of her interests.

Sophie Cunningham has had a 2026 full of experiences that have kept her name in the spotlight.
