Meta Platforms is looking to raise $95 billion to fund its massive AI infrastructure buildout. The tech giant said Monday that it will initially raise $35 billion through underwritten public equity offerings, followed by an additional $60 billion through an at-the-market program. Nvidia , AMD , and Broadcom have expressed interest in becoming “cornerstone investors” in the equity offering, collectively contributing up to $5 billion, according to Meta’s press release . The Club name delivered a strong quarter and guidance last week, and laid out an ambitious plan for its viral Muse AI agent. 2. Elon Musk said SpaceX got its $40 billion debt deal to pay for AI chips and shut the door on the neocloud companies. Writing on X , Musk said the debt markets have almost entirely closed to companies that need financing but don’t do more than data centers. (SpaceX also has satellite internet service Starlink and rockets). “That means the 200+ neoclouds are going to see guppy-level death and consolidation,” Musk wrote . “Some will make it through, but not many.” Neocloud stocks, including CoreWeave , are getting hit. 3. Anthropic drops its long-awaited IPO prospectus . The frontier AI lab plans to list on the Nasdaq under ticker symbol ANT. No terms; that will come later, after the roadshow. Morgan Stanley and Club name Goldman Sachs are named as top underwriters. Before the filing, speculation put the valuation of the company behind Claude at as much as $2 trillion. 4. Stocks overall are looking for a higher open after a volatile week for names tied to the artificial intelligence boom. In my weekend column , I acknowledged the possibility of more pain ahead for the AI trade but gave reasons why I am not bailing on it. At the same time, we got bigger in non-AI last week. Helping the market this morning are lower oil and tame bond yields. 5. It’s an incredibly busy week ahead. As if the two-day October meeting of Federal Reserve policymakers wasn’t enough, 11 companies in the Club portfolio report earnings. The biggies include Amazon , Microsoft , and Alp habet, as well as Boeing and Starbucks . In all, a third of the companies in the S & P 500 report quarterly results this week. 6. FedEx is one of them. Bernstein trimmed its price target on the Club name to $377 from $397 ahead of Wednesday evening’s earnings. The analysts maintained their buy rating, noting that their quarterly estimates are ahead of consensus. They also expect solid guidance. FedEx Freight reports Thursday evening \u2014 its first official earnings report as a standalone firm. 7. UBS raised its price target on Club name Amazon to $348 from $318. The analysts said the company’s 2027 capex could exceed $300 billion, which would obliterate free cash flow. Last week, Meta reported negative FCF. Still, UBS kept its buy rating on Amazon ahead of earnings, citing cloud growth acceleration and faster e-commerce margin expansion. 8. Following the iPhone Duo hitting stores on Friday, there are mixed reviews from people who stood in long lines to snag one. Supply was limited for purchase. Preorder wait times are several months. Some users of Apple’s first foldable phone were pleased with their purchases, while others reported screen cracks. Redditors are calling it “crackgate.” 9. EQT is buying Range Resources in a $13 billion deal to create the nation’s biggest natural gas producer. The combined company expects $20 billion in free cash flow in the next five years. EQT shares are down more than 6%. Range stock is up roughly 11%. This space has been ripe for consolidation: Devon completed its purchase of Coterra back in May. 10. Morgan Stanley cut its price target on buy payment company Affirm to $79 from $82 ahead of earnings early next month. Kept hold, citing “valuation and macro sensitivity.” I disagree with this call. Affirm is one of a few winners here. Remember, Club name Capital One had a great call last week.
