However, the Valkyries prevented the defending champions from advancing to the final round after overcoming a thirteen point deficit<\/a> in Game 3 that resulted in a 3-0 series shutout.<\/p>\n The Dream and the Valkyries proved to be forces in the league as they reached the postseason in 2025. The Valkyries were the first WNBA expansion team <\/a>to do so in their inaugural season. Both teams had an impressive regular season, with the Valkyries clinching the No.2 seed and the Dream finishing at the No.4 making them deserving contenders for a championship.<\/p>\n Even though they both faced early first-round exits, the front offices made key roster moves ahead of the 2026 season that helped set the stage for their finals appearances.
