{"id":897663,"date":"2026-10-28T15:32:11","date_gmt":"2026-10-28T15:32:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/897663\/"},"modified":"2026-10-28T15:32:11","modified_gmt":"2026-10-28T15:32:11","slug":"giants-to-canvas-the-league-for-potential-trade-options-ahead-of-deadline-latest-nfl-news-analysis-updates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/897663\/","title":{"rendered":"Giants to &#8216;canvas the league&#8217; for potential trade options ahead of deadline | Latest NFL News, Analysis &#038; Updates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The New York Giants enter the bye week atop the NFC East at 4-2-1, with divisional tilts <a class=\"relative text-plus-650 dark:text-plus-350 underline\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/games\/giants-at-eagles-2026-reg-9?tab=overview\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" data-headlessui-state=\"\" target=\"_blank\">against<\/a> the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders on deck.<\/p>\n<p>With two weeks before the trade deadline, Big Blue general manager Joe Schoen said he\u2019ll check around to see if there are any options to solidify the roster before the stretch run.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re gonna canvas the league and see what\u2019s available and what the cost may be to upgrade the roster, and if it makes sense, we\u2019ll certainly do that,\u201d Schoen said Tuesday, via the <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" class=\"relative text-plus-650 dark:text-plus-350 underline\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/10\/27\/sports\/joe-schoen-giants-to-canvas-the-league-before-trade-deadline\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-headlessui-state=\"\">New York Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The last time the Giants were in playoff position during Schoen\u2019s tenure, in 2022, the GM didn\u2019t make a splash deadline move; his only trade was <a class=\"relative text-plus-650 dark:text-plus-350 underline\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/news\/chiefs-acquiring-wr-kadarius-toney-from-giants-in-trade\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" data-headlessui-state=\"\" target=\"_blank\">shipping<\/a> Kadarius Toney out of town.<\/p>\n<p>New York isn\u2019t working with a ton of draft capital, having moved a fourth-rounder during the draft to land rookie receiver <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" class=\"relative text-plus-650 dark:text-plus-350 underline\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/players\/malachi-fields\" target=\"_blank\" data-headlessui-state=\"\">Malachi Fields<\/a> and <a class=\"relative text-plus-650 dark:text-plus-350 underline\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/news\/jj-mccarthy-giants-vikings-trade\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" data-headlessui-state=\"\" target=\"_blank\">shipping their fifth-rounder<\/a> for quarterback <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" class=\"relative text-plus-650 dark:text-plus-350 underline\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/players\/j-j-mccarthy\" target=\"_blank\" data-headlessui-state=\"\">J.J. McCarthy<\/a> late last month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn some situations, that may rule some players out,\u201d Schoen said of the Giants not having fourth- and fifth-rounders. \u201cMaybe that\u2019s what their value is. Maybe a third is too rich or a sixth isn\u2019t enough, so then you start looking into future picks and contract status, where we are depth-wise.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So, we\u2019re going to look at all the options that are available.
