(WSMV) &#8211; Tennessee has entered a bid to be the home of the brand new United States Space Academy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">President Donald Trump announced plans for the facility in August, describing it as a facility to train the next generation of astronauts and engineers and \u201cstrengthen the Nation\u2019s space workforce by expanding opportunities to educate and develop the next generation of leaders across the space domain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Wednesday, Governor Bill Lee publicly launched Tennessee\u2019s bid for the facility, saying the state identified the Coffee County Joint Industrial Park just outside Tullahoma as the ideal location because of its proximity to Arnold Air Force Base and Huntsville, Alabama, which is home to one of NASA\u2019s largest field centers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsmv.com\/page\/our-apps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/WCZWEBRKNJC6BHZCWR4ZBCEHIA.png\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s also got plenty of room to expand, and it falls within the aerospace corridor that currently exists in our state,\u201d Lee said. \u201cThat corridor is uniquely positioned, and our state is uniquely positioned.
