\n\tAs James Gunn<\/a>\u2018s fledgling DC Universe continues to grow, he\u2019s revealed that one key character will \u201calmost certainly\u201d return: Harley Quinn. But Margot Robbie<\/a>, who played the anti-hero in three DCEU movies, may not be back.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn \u201cThe Suicide Squad: Is It Canon? The Official Podcast<\/a>,\u201d Gunn was joined by Jennifer Holland and Steve Agee, who starred in his debut DC movie \u201cThe Suicide Squad<\/a>,\u201d to discuss which parts of the pre-reboot film will carry over into the new universe. The trio discussed several dead characters from the film and actors that have played multiple DC roles (such as Sean Gunn, Nathan Fillion and Michael Rooker), but ultimately decided that most of the movie is canon to the rebooted DC Universe.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThat settles it then. I think that \u2018The Suicide Squad\u2019 is within the canon of the DCU. It\u2019s decided,\u201d Gunn said. \u201cI\u2019d say, we have one small asterisk, which is what exactly is the future of Harley Quinn? I want to be given a little leeway with this by the fans because I\u2019m not sure exactly how that\u2019s going to manifest itself. But other than that, I think that we can pretty much say the entire movie is canon. I don\u2019t think there\u2019s a problem.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEarlier in the podcast, Gunn explained that Robbie has become \u201ckind of the biggest female star in the world\u201d and that he isn\u2019t sure if she\u2019d return to play Harley Quinn. She debuted as the first live-action Harley Quinn in David Ayers\u2019 \u201cSuicide Squad\u201d in 2016, then returned for \u201cBirds of Prey\u201d in 2020 before joining Gunn\u2019s standalone sequel in 2021.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cShe\u2019s just so crazy. I love her as Harley. I don\u2019t know if she wants to play Harley again. She may be over that,\u201d Gunn said on the podcast.
