Canadian pop star Bryan Adams<\/a> released a new song bashing President Donald Trump\u2019s rebranding of Lake Ontario<\/a>, as U.S.-Canada relations remain strained.<\/p>\n The \u201cSummer of 69<\/a>\u201d and \u201cHeaven\u201d singer-songwriter debuted the tune \u2014 titled \u201cLake Ontario\u201d \u2014 this week. It\u2019s set to appear as a bonus track on his new album.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a first nations name, not an executive order,\u201d the lyrics state. \u201cBut things weren\u2019t going his way in Iran<\/a>. So like a baby tossing the toys from the pram, he may have thought it best to throw a low blow, and create a real dog and pony show.\u201d<\/p>\n The song comes two months after the GOP president signed an executive order<\/a> instructing federal agencies to refer to Lake Ontario, which straddles the U.S.-Canada border, as \u201cLake America.\u201d Both Google Maps and Apple Maps<\/a> have since included the new name in its maps for U.S. users.<\/p>\n Adams, who has sold more than 75 million records and singles worldwide, also ripped Trump over his ties to Jeffrey Epstein<\/a>, the deceased financier who was charged with sex trafficking minors. The president has not been charged with a crime and has denied any wrongdoing.<\/p>\n \u201cBut it feels like another distraction, while the Epstein files were getting traction,\u201d the lyrics state. \u201cOne day they\u2019ll come out and we\u2019ll say \u2018there you go.\u2019 And then we\u2019ll all dive into Lake Ontario.\u201d<\/p>\n Adams, 66, was raised in Kingston, a mid-size city in the province of Ontario. He previously released a song critical of Trump this summer.<\/p>\n Relations between the U.S. and Canada \u2014 longtime allies and trading partners \u2014 began deteriorating after Trump returned to office last year.<\/p>\n The president slapped steep tariffs on Canada, accusing the country of unfair trade practices, triggering a bitter tariff war between Washington and Ottawa<\/a>. Trump has also repeatedly threatened to make Canada the \u201c51st state<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n Prime Minister Mark Carney has likened the U.S. tariffs to an act of war, and the Canadian military has drafted plans for the unlikely possibility of a U.S. invasion<\/a>.<\/p>\n
