The Village of Granisle has completed construction of its community-wide fibre-optic network, with Mayor Linda McGuire telling the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako board on Aug. 14 that residents and businesses are already benefiting.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople are really happy with it. It\u2019s made a huge difference for us,\u201d McGuire said.\u00a0She also noted the project\u2019s economic impact, saying, \u201cIt\u2019s allowed us to compete in ways we couldn\u2019t before.\u201d<\/p>\n
The high-speed service has replaced older, limited-capacity connections and is improving internet access for homes and businesses throughout the village.<\/p>\n
“It’s really ripping along,” McGuire said.<\/p>\n
The project, funded through a combination of federal and provincial grants, was designed to support remote work, education, telehealth and online business operations, while accommodating future speed upgrades and additional services.<\/p>\n
“It’s really allowed us to compete,” McGuire told the board.<\/p>\n
