Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The report cites unnamed officiating sources, and states the change was made \u201cmore about optics than a disciplinary action.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The swap comes after a controversial outing by Moore\u2019s crew during the Week 7 game between the Packers and Lions. That game included two unpopular roughing the passer calls on Green Bay and an unnecessary roughness call on Detroit\u2019s Derrick Barnes.<\/p>\n<p>The Barnes call, which came after the linebacker hit Packers running back Marshawn Lloyd just after the ball went through Lloyd\u2019s hands late in the game, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7725034\/2026\/10\/25\/tom-brady-criticize-referees-penalties-packers-lions\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">drew criticism from Fox lead analyst Tom Brady.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh, come on, man,\u201d Brady said on the broadcast as the penalty was announced. \u201cThat\u2019s allowed 99 out of 100\u2026it\u2019s a bang-bang play.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.50146628;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"   data-modal-image=\"41591320\" width=\"886\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/GettyImages-2301566383.jpg\" alt=\"Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur argues with an NFL official during a game against the Detroit Lions.\" class=\"wp-image-41591320\"\/>Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur talks to referee Alex Moore during an NFL football game against the Detroit Lions in Detroit on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026. NurPhoto via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Brady was also vocal on a late roughing-the-passer call on Packers defensive lineman Karl Brooks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, my goodness, what is that? There\u2019s no way.\u201d Brady exclaimed. \u201cBrooks on the tackle kind of makes a great play. It\u2019s a bang-bang play. He rolls off his body; it\u2019s a great throw by Goff, that\u2019s definitely not roughing the passer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Making the Week 8 crew switch helps keep the Week 7 performance out of the spotlight with much of the country getting the Broncos-Chiefs showdown on CBS in that 4:25 pm slot opposite Patriots-Dolphins.<\/p>\n<p>Brady\u2019s complaints were already heard by an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/nfl\/profootballtalk\/rumor-mill\/news\/packers-lions-does-24-67-million-in-sundays-late-window\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">audience of 24.67 million last Sunday<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The NFL doesn\u2019t only flex games out of primetime.
