Catherine Zeta-Jones gave her now-husband, Michael Douglas, a stern ultimatum at the start of their relationship: stop dating other women.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I courted Catherine, she told me, \u2018If we are doing this, you need to clean your act up,’\u201d Douglas recalled on Friday\u2019s episode of \u201cThe Graham Norton Show,\u201d according to Hello! magazine.<\/a><\/p>\n Douglas, 82, noted that he was recently divorced from his first wife, Diandra Luker, and \u201cseeing some other people at the time\u201d that he met Zeta-Jones, 57, in 1998.<\/p>\n Michael Douglas revealed on \u201cThe Graham Norton Show\u201d on Friday that his now-wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, gave him a stern ultimatum when they started dating. WireImage<\/p>\n Douglas confirmed in his book that he dumped five women at the start of his relationship with Zeta-Jones. catherinezetajones\/Instagram<\/p>\n In his new memoir, \u201cOne Helluva Ride,\u201d<\/a> Douglas explained that after separating from Luker in 1995 after 23 years of marriage, he began non-monogamous relationships with five women who all lived in different cities.<\/p>\n But after meeting Zeta-Jones at the Deauville American Film Festival in France, Douglas recalled that the \u201cChicago\u201d actress refused to date him if they weren\u2019t monogamous.<\/p>\n \u201cThat day, I called each one to say I\u2019d met somebody and would no longer be able to continue seeing them,\u201d<\/a> he wrote in his book. \u201cThey all took it well.\u201d<\/p>\n Two years after meeting, Douglas and Zeta-Jones tied the knot at the Plaza Hotel in New York City.<\/p>\n Douglas (seen here with Zeta-Jones in 1999) admitted on the talk show he was \u201csurprised\u201d about the number of romantic partners he had at once before Zeta-Jones. Douglas also has son Cameron, 47, <\/a>from his first marriage.<\/p>\n Douglas and Zeta-Jones briefly separated in 2013<\/a> after his tongue cancer battle <\/a>and her bipolar disorder treatment, but as he noted in his book, the \u201cFatal Attraction\u201d star \u201cnever gave up hope\u201d that they\u2019d reconcile.<\/p>\n \u201cI love Catherine in a way that I have never loved any other woman,\u201d he wrote. \u201cShe\u2019s my wife, my best friend, and my life partner.
