{"id":900917,"date":"2026-10-31T09:42:14","date_gmt":"2026-10-31T09:42:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/900917\/"},"modified":"2026-10-31T09:42:14","modified_gmt":"2026-10-31T09:42:14","slug":"artist-david-sabastian-pranks-the-met-by-illegally-hanging-art-piece-criticizing-the-met-gala","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/900917\/","title":{"rendered":"Artist David Sabastian pranks the Met by illegally hanging art piece criticizing the Met Gala"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An artist used a stroller and \u201csex noises\u201d to prank the Metropolitan Museum of Art in protest against the <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/style\/the-met-galas-history-of-public-controversy-from-kim-kardashian-to-galliano\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cabsurdity\u201d of the Met Gala<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, artist David Sabastian and an accomplice entered the Upper East Side institution with a crayon drawing depicting Vogue\u2019s famed annual event and a Bluetooth speaker hidden in the baby carriage.<\/p>\n<p>According to a video of the antics, when they reached their target area, his pal began loudly playing recorded \u201csex noises\u201d from the speaker to distract security, who \u2014 right according to plan \u2014 rushed to investigate the raunchy stroller.<\/p>\n<p>Artist David Sabastian illegally hung his art on the wall at The Met.  David Sabastian\/Instagram<\/p>\n<p>Sabastian used crayons to illustrate the \u201cabsurdity\u201d of the Met Gala. David Sabastian\/Instagram<\/p>\n<p>While the staff was busy with the X-rated recording, Sabastian hung his piece \u201cThe Met 2028\u201d on an empty spot in the hallowed halls of the museum.<\/p>\n<p>Sabastian\u2019s prank masterpiece shows celebrities ascending the famous Met staircase, familiar to millions from the gala\u2019s coverage, with citizens clashing with riot police on the other side of crowd-control barriers.<\/p>\n<p id=\"block-295c31ac-9500-4bac-9cb5-d207993fa268\">\u201cA-list celebrities prancing while the world outside the museum gates is collapsing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Security viewed the piece after Sabastian hung it.  David Sabastian\/Instagram<\/p>\n<p>Sabastian used a portable speaker playing sex noises to distract security. David Sabastian\/Instagram<\/p>\n<p>The point of the piece is to illustrate the \u201cabsurdity of it all,\u201d he said. And to cap it off, he created the piece using crayons \u201cto make it extra ridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The piece was still hanging in the museum as of 11 a.m. on Monday, we\u2019re told.<\/p>\n<p>He posted video showing security checking out the piece after he hung it on the wall. \u201cThe Met Museum is a great platform to bring attention and awareness to the world,\u201d he told Page Six.<\/p>\n<p>He plans to follow his Met stunt with installations in multiple cities. \u201cI\u2019m like Banksy, but bald,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Sabastian had an anonymous friend push a baby stroller with the portable speaker. David Sabastian\/Instagram<\/p>\n<p>Sabastian says he plans to do various installations in multiple cities.  David Sabastian\/Instagram<\/p>\n<p>Unlike the pseudonymous artist, who has never confirmed his identity, \u201cI\u2019m not Batman.
