Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has been ruled out<\/a> after he went to the locker room with an injury to his throwing hand during his first offensive snap of Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills.<\/p>\n

When he returned to the sideline, he was wearing a brace on his thumb:<\/p>\n

Evan Washburn of CBS Sports provided an update after the initial injury, including a close-up look at the injured thumb:<\/p>\n

To make matters worse for the Ravens, backup Tyler Huntley was ruled out<\/a> with a toe injury and was replaced by emergency quarterback Joe Fagnano:<\/p>\n

Running back Justice Hill would be the next man up for the Ravens at quarterback if Fagnano suffered an injury, according to the CBS broadcast. <\/p>\n

For the season, the two-time NFL MVP has completed 70.8 percent of his passes for 967 yards, six touchdowns and one interception. He’s also rushed for 144 yards and one more score.<\/p>\n

Jackson has missed his team’s last three full games (Weeks 5-7 against the Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals) due to a left high ankle sprain suffered against the Tennessee Titans in Week 4<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There was hope Jackson could play against Cincinnati. He was listed as questionable<\/a> and provided an encouraging report on Oct. 22, two days before the game.<\/p>\n

“Right now, I’m headed in the right direction,” Jackson told reporters<\/a> after Friday’s practice. “I can’t call it right now, still got a grace period, so we’ll see, man, hopefully. But I feel like I’m heading in the right direction right now.”<\/p>\n

Jackson was ultimately ruled out, but his return appeared imminent.<\/p>\n
