AIKEN \u2014 A new post-acute health care facility is scheduled to begin serving patients Nov. 17.<\/p>\n
PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital has 42 private rooms and a gym with \u201ctechnologically advanced\u201d equipment, according to a recent news release.<\/p>\n
In-house dialysis will be available, and there will be a full complement of physical, occupational and speech therapists to assist individuals recovering from such health challenges as traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, strokes, heart attacks, amputations and severe illness.<\/p>\n
The facility\u2019s staff \u201cwill deliver comprehensive personalized treatment programs designed to accelerate recovery and optimize patient outcomes by using state-of-the-art technologies, highly specialized care plans and innovative approaches to care,\u201d the release states.<\/p>\n
Patients will be able to return for outpatient therapy after being discharged.<\/p>\n
Dr. Joan Hou will be the medical director of the facility, which is off Trolley Run Boulevard at 4186 Incense Cedar Drive.<\/p>\n
She is a board certified psychiatrist in physical medicine and rehabilitation and brain injury medicine.<\/p>\n
There will be a community open house at the hospital from 5-7 p.m. on Nov. 10. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held during the open house.<\/p>\n
Based in Enola, Pennsylvania, PAM Health has in its network more than 100 medical rehabilitation hospitals, long-term acute care hospitals, behavioral health hospitals, wound care clinics and outpatient physical therapy locations in 23 states.<\/p>\n
