Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday are all light nights with six or fewer games, so those are the nights to target if you have an open roster spot. Saturday is the busiest night of the week with 12 games, and Tuesday and Thursday aren’t far behind with 11 each, which means streamers will have a tough time cracking your lineup on all three nights.

The Calgary Flames lead the way with 3.65 True Games, followed by the Vegas Golden Knights, Florida Panthers, Anaheim Ducks and Colorado Avalanche. At the other end, the Washington Capitals have the toughest week for streamers at just 1.13 True Games.

Week 6 Strength of Schedule

Week 6 Streaming Targets

Calgary Flames

The Flames were the top streaming targets last week, and they absolutely crushed it. If you streamed them in Week 5, hold on for Week 6 because their schedule is about to get even better. All four of Calgary’s games fall on light nights, and the matchups couldn’t be much more favourable (@ SJS, @ SEA, vs. ANA, vs. PHI).

Joel Farabee has officially graduated from streamer status after his rostered percentage jumped to 48%. If he’s somehow still available in your league, he’d be my streamer of the week. Farabee recorded six points (3G / 3A) in four games last week and now has 12 points (5G / 7A) in his last eight contests.

Fortunately, there are still plenty of Flames available on the waiver wire who can take advantage of this incredible schedule.

Matt Coronato (RW) – 20% Rostered

Coronato’s Roster% jumped from 9% to 20% after he recorded six points (1G / 5A) in four games last week. He’s been on an absolute heater, collecting 13 points (2G / 11A) in his last 10 games while averaging a solid 2.5 SOG and 3.9 shot attempts per game.

He and Farabee are cooking right now, and with Mikael Backlund centring them, Calgary’s top line has been generating an impressive 3.76 xGF/60. Coronato offers similar exposure to Farabee’s recent success but remains much more readily available. He’s my favourite widely available Flames streamer this week.

Matvei Gridin (LW/RW) – 15% Rostered

Last week, I suggested Gridin was more likely to contribute assists and power-play points than goals. After streaming him in multiple leagues, I was more than happy to be wrong when he opened the week with two goals and an assist against Toronto.

Gridin finished the week with five points (3G / 2A) in four games while averaging 3.3 SOG and 4.5 shot attempts per game. He’s now riding an impressive eight-game stretch with nine points (5G / 4A), backed by consistently strong shot volume (2.6 SOG/GP and 4.1 shot attempts/GP).

The goal-scoring upside has been better than expected, and the shot volume gives him another way to contribute even when he’s not finding the scoresheet. With four favourable matchups, Gridin remains an excellent streaming option.

Martin Pospisil (C/RW) – 9% Rostered

Pospisil was my favourite banger-league streamer last week, and he delivered exactly what we were looking for. Not only did he bang, racking up 23 hits (5.8 per game), but he also recorded a point in three of four games, finishing with four points (2G / 2A).

The elite hit volume provides a tremendous floor in leagues that reward physical play, and he’s shown he can chip in offensively despite his third-line role. You shouldn’t expect four points every week, but with this schedule, Pospisil is once again one of my favourite banger-league streaming options.

Morgan Frost (C) – 9% Rostered

Frost was a borderline streaming option last week, and that remains the case heading into Week 6. His inconsistent role makes him difficult to trust, and that was evident again last week when he played fewer than 14:30 in two of Calgary’s four games.

He finished with just two points (1G / 1A) while contributing very little in peripheral categories, recording only five shots and four hits. The favourable schedule keeps him on the streaming radar, but there are better ways to take advantage of Calgary’s four-game week. I’d prefer Backlund.

Mikael Backlund (C) – 5% Rostered

As mentioned above, Backlund has been driving excellent underlying numbers alongside Farabee and Coronato, with the trio generating 3.76 xGF/60.

Backlund picked up a point in three of four games last week, finishing with three points (1G / 2A) while averaging 2.3 SOG and 3.5 shot attempts per game.

His lack of a power-play role limits his ceiling, but he’s playing heavy minutes (18:30 ATOI) and contributing enough at even strength to remain relevant. With two red-hot wingers on either side of him and four favourable matchups, Backlund is a sneaky option in deeper leagues.

Adam Klapka (RW) – 5% Rostered

If you miss out on Pospisil and need hits, Klapka is your fallback option this week.

He failed to record a point in four games last week but still delivered 17 hits (4.3 per game). His role is less secure, but his physical production remains among the best in the NHL.

Klapka ranks ninth in the league with 19.1 hits/60 among players with at least 100 minutes of ice time this season. He’s a one-category specialist, but if you’re chasing hits, there aren’t many better options available.

Florida Panthers

Three of Florida’s four games fall on light nights this week, making the Panthers an appealing team to stream. The problem is that their offence is extremely top-heavy, leaving fantasy managers with limited options on the waiver wire.

Anton Lundell (C) – 8% Rostered

After going pointless in six straight games, Lundell erupted for a hat trick against the Jets on Friday, doubling his point total from the first 13 games of the season.

The slow start was more a product of bad luck than poor play. Entering Friday’s game, Lundell was shooting just 2.9%, while his on-ice shooting percentage sat at an equally unsustainable 4.9%. His underlying numbers have been solid all season, and Friday’s breakout could be a sign of things to come.

Lundell is playing a significant role (18:37 ATOI) and averaging 3.0 SOG, 4.8 shot attempts and 1.4 hits per game. That kind of volume provides a strong floor, and if he and his linemates can start converting their chances at a more reasonable rate, Lundell has the potential for a big week.

Sandis Vilmanis (LW) – 0% Rostered

Vilmanis was recently promoted to Florida’s second line alongside Sam Reinhart and Carter Verhaeghe, giving him an intriguing opportunity to contribute offensively.

The production hasn’t been there yet, but Vilmanis has made his presence felt physically, averaging an impressive 3.3 hits per game this season. His offensive upside remains uncertain, but skating alongside two of Florida’s most talented forwards gives him some sneaky potential.

He’s primarily a deep-league streaming option for managers chasing hits, with the added bonus of potentially picking up a few points thanks to his improved deployment.

San Jose Sharks

The Sharks have inexplicably gone from one of the NHL’s most entertaining teams last season to one of its more underwhelming offensive units. Entering Week 6, San Jose ranks 28th in the NHL in xGF/60 (2.61) and 26th in GF/60 (2.61).

That lack of offensive production makes it difficult to get excited about their streaming options. Even with favourable scheduling, the Sharks’ struggling offence significantly limits the upside of their available players.

Ivar Stenberg (LW) – 45% Rostered

Stenberg enjoyed a solid start to his NHL career, recording nine points (3G / 6A) in his first 12 games. However, he’s been held pointless in three straight contests and was demoted from the top line to the third line over the weekend.

His ice time has fluctuated significantly depending on his spot in the lineup, ranging from as much as 20:22 to as little as 13:35. He played just 15:35 in San Jose’s most recent game, and his peripheral production has been concerning lately, averaging only 1.0 SOG and 2.0 shot attempts per game over his last three outings.

Without consistent top-six minutes or reliable shot volume, Stenberg is a risky streaming option. His upside is tied heavily to his deployment, so keep an eye on San Jose’s lines before committing a roster spot.

Mason Marchment (LW) – 15% Rostered

Marchment has been an inconsistent offensive contributor this season, although things have improved slightly after he managed just one point in his first six games. He’s recorded five points (3G / 2A) in his last nine contests, but the production still leaves plenty to be desired.

His peripheral numbers have been more encouraging, averaging 3.7 shot attempts and 1.3 hits per game. He’s also generating quality scoring opportunities, ranking third on the Sharks with 3.42 individual expected goals (ixG), the highest mark among San Jose’s available streaming options.

The underlying numbers suggest there’s some room for improvement, but the results haven’t been convincing enough to get overly excited. Marchment is a reasonable deep-league option if you need some shot volume and modest hit contributions, but his offensive ceiling looks limited right now.

Tyler Toffoli (LW/RW) – 15% Rostered

Like Stenberg, Toffoli got off to a solid start this season, collecting nine points (4G / 5A) in his first 12 games. However, he’s since gone pointless in three straight contests, and his underlying numbers don’t offer much reason for optimism.

Toffoli ranks sixth on the Sharks in ixG and 10th in offence-generating plays, while averaging just 13:59 of ice time per game. That limited usage makes it difficult to trust him for consistent production, especially when he’s not contributing much in peripheral categories.

With limited minutes and an underwhelming statistical profile, Toffoli is a low-floor, low-ceiling streaming option best left for deeper leagues.

Michael Misa (C) – 14% Rostered

Misa was a popular breakout candidate entering the season after an impressive preseason, but that promise has yet to translate into regular-season production.

The rookie has managed just seven points (3G / 4A) in 15 games while averaging an ugly 1.1 SOG and 2.1 shot attempts per game. There’s virtually no peripheral floor, and with zero multi-point performances through 15 games, he hasn’t shown much of a ceiling either.

Misa ranks fourth on the Sharks in ixG, but that’s not particularly encouraging when he’s generating just 0.23 ixG per game. The talent is undeniable, but the production and underlying numbers simply aren’t there yet. He’s a player to monitor in keeper leagues, but there’s little reason to trust him as a weekly streamer right now.

Buffalo Sabres

All three of Buffalo’s games fall on light nights this week, starting Wednesday against the Senators. That creates an interesting streaming opportunity if you have enough weekly adds. You could stream someone else early in the week before pivoting to a Sabres player for their final three games.

The matchups aren’t particularly favourable, though, with Buffalo facing two strong defensive teams in the Senators and Golden Knights. Still, the schedule makes the Sabres worth considering, especially if you’re looking to maximize games played later in the week.

Zach Benson (LW) – 40% Rostered

Benson has consistently been one of my favourite buy-low candidates throughout the first month of the season, and he’s finally starting to reward fantasy managers who stayed patient.

After failing to score in his first 11 games, Benson has found the back of the net twice in his last three contests. Despite the early goal-scoring drought, his overall production has been excellent, with 13 points (2G / 11A) in 14 games, including 12 points (2G / 10A) in his last nine.

It’s surprising that Benson is still available in 60% of leagues, given how productive he’s been. He’s more than just a streaming option at this point. If he’s available on your waiver wire, pick him up with the intention of holding him long-term.

Josh Doan (RW) – 17% Rostered

Doan was a popular preseason breakout candidate, but he’s been one of the more disappointing young players through the first month of the season. He has just three points (2G / 1A) in 14 games, with underwhelming peripheral production (1.6 SOG, 2.9 shot attempts and 1.1 hits per game).

The bigger concern is his diminishing role. While other young Sabres have climbed the depth chart, Doan has seen his opportunities shrink. After averaging 16:15 TOI in his first nine games, he’s played just 14:53 per game over his last five.

Unfortunately, the underlying numbers don’t suggest a breakout is imminent. Doan ranks 176th in the NHL in ixG/GP (0.22) and 227th in offence-generating plays per game (4.43).

There’s still some appeal here because a turnaround could make him a longer-term hold, but the combination of declining ice time, poor production and uninspiring underlying numbers makes that seem unlikely in the immediate future. He’s a speculative deep-league streamer at best.

Noah Ostlund (C) – 4% Rostered

Ostlund is my favourite low-owned streaming option in Buffalo, and I’d comfortably rank him ahead of Doan. In fact, I dropped Doan for Ostlund in one of my leagues a few weeks ago, and nothing I’ve seen since has made me regret that decision.

Ostlund has recorded nine points (4G / 5A) in 14 games, and his role has steadily increased as the season has progressed. More importantly, his underlying numbers suggest there’s plenty of room for further production.

He ranks 53rd in the NHL in ixG/GP, tied with Brady Tkachuk and Martin Necas, and 96th in offence-generating plays per game, tied with Jesper Bratt. That’s impressive company for a player rostered in just 4% of leagues.

Unlike Doan, Ostlund’s process has been excellent, and his averages of 2.4 SOG and 4.5 shot attempts per game provide a respectable floor. With his opportunities increasing and the underlying numbers already looking strong, Ostlund is an excellent streaming target who could develop into a longer-term hold.

Peyton Krebs (C/LW) – 2% Rostered

Krebs has yet to score a goal this season and has just seven assists in 14 games, with five of those helpers coming in only two contests. Needless to say, consistent offensive production hasn’t been his strong suit.

However, his recent deployment makes him an intriguing option in deeper banger leagues. Krebs has seen his ice time increase while skating alongside Tage Thompson and Benson, and he’s averaged an impressive 4.0 hits per game since joining that line.

There’s some sneaky offensive potential here, too. The trio has generated an excellent 4.14 xGF/60 in a limited sample, suggesting Krebs could pick up some points simply by playing alongside two talented offensive players.

The hits are the main attraction, but the improved deployment gives him a little more upside than your typical one-category specialist. He’s a worthwhile deep-league banger target this week.

Welcome to Week 6 of the Daily Faceoff Fantasy Strength of Schedule, your weekly guide to which teams’…

[66
385,99
post-903621","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-nhl","tag-nhl","tag-sports
["GET
