Over a decade after it was last attempted, a new screen adaptation of Daniel H. Wilson\u2019s 2011 book \u201cRobopocalypse\u201d is ready to be plugged in.<\/p>\n

Imagine Entertainment and Weed Road are developing a TV series take with Ron Howard attached to direct the pilot and Akiva Goldsman set to showrun and write the pilot.<\/p>\n

Steven Spielberg\u2019s Amblin Entertainment will executive produce the show along with Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody, Greg Lessans and Rachel Wizenberg will.<\/p>\n

Throughout much of the early 2010s, Spielberg was attached to direct a film adaptation \u2013 optioning the book before it was published while Drew Goddard was hired to pen the script.<\/p>\n

By 2013 the project was put on hold as Spielberg diverted to making \u201cBridge of Spies\u201d instead, and within a year was indefinitely postponed. Michael Bay tried to get a version going in 2018 but again it didn\u2019t take off.<\/p>\n

Spielberg revealed earlier this year that the reason for the film\u2019s collapse was the sheer expense of the project which would\u2019ve been a \u201ccompany-ender\u201d.<\/p>\n

The story centers on humanity\u2019s war against robots controlled by a powerful AI who almost annihilates the human race. The scattered remnants unite for the first time unites in a determined effort to fight back. <\/p>\n

No network or streamer is yet involved to the TV version.<\/p>\n
