\n\tJohnny Depp<\/a> is open to reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow should Pirates of the Caribbean<\/a> return but for one reason. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn an interview with Entertainment Tonight<\/a>, the actor explained what would be his motivating factor to don the pirate<\/a> hat again.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIf things are exactly where they need to be with regard to how they are going to top off the Pirates franchise\u2026 the only involvement I really want to have, truly, is just to send them off on a better note,\u201d the actor said. <\/p>\n

\n\tHe continued, \u201cI will go to work with [Jerry] Bruckheimer tomorrow for anything. Doesn\u2019t matter\u2026 if it\u2019s Jerry, I trust him. We have a deep friendship.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDepp headlined the five Pirates of the Caribbean films that released from 2003 to 2017. <\/p>\n

\n\tBruckheimer, who produced all five previous films, previously told The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> in 2022 that they were \u201cgetting very close\u201d with Pirates 6 and even had a \u201cvery good script.\u201d The producer also noted that Pirates would be rebooted <\/a>\u201cso that is easier to put together\u201c given \u201cyou don\u2019t have to wait for certain actors.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe last Pirates of the Caribbean movie, Dead Men Tell No Tales, was released was in 2017 and starred Depp, Javier Bardem and Kaya Scodelario, as well as returning franchise cast members Geoffrey Rush<\/a>, Orlando Bloom<\/a>, and Keira Knightley<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tBruckheimer has been candid about work on a new Pirates film which would have Jeff Nathanson writing the script. Another reported film, penned by Christina Hodson from Birds of Prey, was to star Margot Robbie<\/a>. In her Vanity Fair<\/a> 2022 cover story Robbie said of the film, \u201cWe had an idea and we were developing it for a while, ages ago, to have more of a female-led \u2014 not totally female-led, but just a different kind of story \u2014 which we thought would\u2019ve been really cool, but I guess they don\u2019t want to do it.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tHowever, Bruckheimer has said he still intended on getting a reboot and Robbie\u2018s film made: \u201cWe hope to get \u2019em both made, and I think Disney<\/a> agrees they really want to make the Margot one, too,\u201d Bruckheimer told Entertainment Weekly. <\/a><\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI think he\u2019s cracked it,\u201d Bruckheimer also told EW of Nathanson\u2019s script. \u201cHe\u2019s got an amazing third act. We just gotta clean up the first and second and then we\u2019ll get there. But he wrote a great, great third act.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tBruckheimer previously told EW<\/a> that he would welcome Depp to return to the role and had conversations with the actor about it. \u201cIt\u2019s a reboot, but if it was up to me, he would be in it,\u201d Bruckheimer said. \u201cI love him. He\u2019s a good friend. He\u2019s an amazing artist, and he\u2019s a unique look. He created Captain Jack. That was not on the page; that was him doing a little Pep\u00e9 Le Pew and Keith Richards.
