{"id":91320,"date":"2025-08-18T07:26:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-18T07:26:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/91320\/"},"modified":"2025-08-18T07:26:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-18T07:26:09","slug":"abu-dhabi-launches-newborn-genetic-screening-to-detect-over-800-childhood-conditions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/91320\/","title":{"rendered":"Abu Dhabi launches newborn genetic screening to detect over 800 childhood conditions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Breaking.jpeg\" alt=\"\" height=\"418\" width=\"627\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The Department of Health \u2013 Abu Dhabi (DoH) announced on Monday (August 18) the launch of the Newborn Genetic Screening Programme\u2014a major step toward personalised, precision healthcare. <\/p>\n<p>As one of the most comprehensive programmes of its kind globally, the initiative uses whole genome sequencing to screen newborns for over 815 treatable childhood genetic conditions. <\/p>\n<p>These include metabolic disorders, immunodeficiencies, blood disorders, and rare diseases such as spinal muscular atrophy \u2014 many of which can be managed or cured with early intervention.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/whatsapp.com\/channel\/0029Va5dROu3bbUxk7Jh2503\" rel=\"sponsored noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Stay up to date with the latest news. Follow KT on WhatsApp Channels.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the programme\u2019s initial phase, screening is being offered on a voluntary basis at Kanad Hospital and Danat Al Emarat Hospital, in partnership with M42.
