(AP) \u2014 Employees of the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families who work at the Friendship Street building in Providence were asked to work remotely Monday after a bat was sighted in the building.<\/p>\n
According to a letter from Director Ashley Deckert made available to NBC 10 News, a bat was spotted on the second floor of 101 Friendship St. on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Staffers were given until 10 a.m. Monday to pick up anything they needed to work remotely. The letter said the moves were made with health and safety as a priority.<\/p>\n
“Our pest control provider was called in to remove the bat this morning, inspect the building and determine the point of entry,” a statement said. “We are working closely with the landlord, property manager and pest control provider to address the issue and comply with all necessary standards.”<\/p>\n
DCYF said a bat was also removed on Thursday.<\/p>\n
