{"id":93193,"date":"2025-08-19T01:28:22","date_gmt":"2025-08-19T01:28:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/93193\/"},"modified":"2025-08-19T01:28:22","modified_gmt":"2025-08-19T01:28:22","slug":"abq-biopark-welcomes-3-new-baby-flamingo-chicks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/93193\/","title":{"rendered":"ABQ BioPark welcomes 3 new baby flamingo chicks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The trio will remain inside for now, except during scheduled walks.<\/p>\n<p>ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. \u2014 The Albuquerque BioPark is welcoming three new flamingo chicks to its American flamingo flock at the zoo.<\/p>\n<p>In June, for the safety of the eggs, zoo staff removed the eggs from Flamingo Island to a behind-the-scenes incubator. The first chick hatched July 11. The second hatched July 30 and the third hatched Aug. 6.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe chicks are doing great, and our staff is so dedicated,\u201d said Karen Waterfall, BioPark curator of birds. \u201cOur care team has been hand-raising the chicks and monitoring them closely to help them meet their developmental milestones.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Waterfall is excited about the hatchlings because this is the first year \u201cin a while\u201d this many have been hatched.<\/p>\n<p>If you visit the BioPark\u2019s wattled crane habitat at around 11:15 a.m., you can see the chicks out for a walk. They estimate the oldest chick will be out on Flamingo Island permanently around mid-October.
