Gary Neville<\/a> and Jamie Carragher<\/a> offered up different title winners as the two Sky Sports pundits made their predictions for the 2025-26 Premier League<\/a> season.<\/p>\n

The duo made offered their thoughts on how the season could unfold on Monday Night Football, after witnessing the opening weekend of the campaign.<\/p>\n

Liverpool<\/a> legend Carragher believes his former club will retain their title, while Neville predicted that Mikel Arteta<\/a>‘s Arsenal<\/a> will finally top the table after three consecutive runner-up finishes.<\/p>\n

The pair, however, both acknowledged that Man City<\/a> were also one of three contenders to by crowned champions.<\/p>\n

‘I couldn’t separate them, so I have gone with the team I have gone with for the past three years, feeling that they are reliable, solid and consistent, which I think is important,’ Neville said of his Arsenal prediction.<\/p>\n

‘They are consistently getting high points totals and finishing second to great teams, I think they have improved themselves, I think [Viktor] Gyokeres will do well for Arsenal.<\/p>\n

‘I think they have the right material at the front of the pitch and I think Gyokeres will.’<\/p>\n

Neville also revealed a bold prediction over Man United’s fortunes this season, having previously told Daily Mail Sport he believed the Reds would likely finish ‘seventh or eighth’.<\/p>\n

Following a bright showing on the opening day – albeit in a 1-0 defeat by Arsenal – Neville believes Ruben Amorim’s side will finish in the Champions League places at the end of the season.<\/p>\n

Neville suggested Man United’s league form will benefit from not being in European competition this season, which he believes could give them the edge over the likes of Chelsea, Aston Villa, Newcastle and Tottenham.<\/p>\n

‘Last season I remembering watching Chelsea and no-one had them, but I thought I saw something when they played Man City and thought “that’s a good team”.<\/p>\n

‘When I watched them yesterday I thought the performance was very good.<\/p>\n

‘I think they will get a goalkeeper and with those players up front, with the free weeks they have got with no Champions League or Europa League, I think Man United will surprise some people.<\/p>\n

‘Maybe it is a little bit of bias in who I support, I am not sure Chelsea will find it as easy with the World Club Cup, European games and I think Man United will sneak in’.<\/p>\n

Carragher laughed at Neville for selecting Ruben Amorim as his ‘manager to watch’, claiming he selects the Man United manager ever season<\/p>\n

Both pundits agreed Newcastle would finish in the top six, with Carragher backing them to finish fifth ahead of Tottenham, while Neville placed the Magpies sixth behind Chelsea.<\/p>\n

Neville’s pick of Amorim as being the ‘manager to watch’ generated laughter from Carragher, who insisted his fellow pundit picked the Man United manager every season.<\/p>\n

The Man United legend justified his choice by claiming the Amorim would be under ‘massive pressure’ if the Red Devils start the season badly, but backed him to do a ‘good job’ this season.<\/p>\n

Carragher, however, selected Oliver Glasner as he bids to continue to impress at Crystal Palace as he leads the club into Europe following the FA Cup triumph next season.<\/p>\n

The Liverpool legend aimed another jibe at his\u00a0fellow pundit by labelling Man United as a surprise European contender, while Neville – who remains banned from the City Ground – joked he might be allowed back in after naming Nottingham Forest as his pick.<\/p>\n

When forecasting which teams could get relegated from the Premier League, both picked one newly promoted side to escape the drop.<\/p>\n

Neville admitted he had made a late change to his picks for relegation, as he backed Brentford to stay up ahead of Leeds despite their differing fortunes on the opening weekend of the season.<\/p>\n

Leeds were backed by Carragher to stay in the Premier League this season at Wolves expense<\/p>\n

Neville instead tipped Sunderland to remain in their Premier League after their promotion<\/p>\n

He picked Leeds to join Burnley and Wolves in suffering the drop, with Carragher mirroring two of Neville’s picks but instead naming Sunderland to go down instead of Leeds.<\/p>\n

Carragher cited Elland Road as a possible benefit for Leeds this season, while big-name departures from Wolves were highlighted as why they would be the established Premier League team to drop out of the top flight.<\/p>\n

The pair elected to choose West Ham and Brentford as club’s in a danger zone, who could be set for a season of struggle.<\/p>\n

They also agreed on Erling Haaland to be the Premier League’s top scorer, with Carragher and Neville predicted Liverpool’s Florian Wirtz and Gyokeres to be the impact signings of the season.<\/p>\n
