\n\tAlan Cumming<\/a> is opening up about how playing Nightcrawler in\u00a0Avengers: Doomsday<\/a> was actually \u201creally healing\u201d after his \u201cterrible experience\u201d in 2003\u2019s X2: X-Men United.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe actor recently told People<\/a> at the Televerse 2025 conference that he \u201cjust finished\u201d filming the Russo brothers\u2019 highly anticipated Doomsday film, which is set to hit theaters in May 2026.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI just came back. It was amazing. It was actually really\u2026 in a sort of ooey, gooey way, it was really healing and really nice to go back to something that was a terrible experience when I did it the first time,\u201d Cumming said. \u201cA great film, great film. I love the film.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Traitors host has previously been open about why it was so \u201cmiserable\u201d to make the 2003 X-Men\u00a0sequel, including the challenges of spending\u00a0\u201clike four and a half to five hours\u201d in makeup <\/a>each day to transform into the blue-skinned mutant, as well as difficulties with director\u00a0Bryan Singer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tHowever, he said it \u201cwas actually really great to go back\u201d for Doomsday as it was much more positive this time around.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAnd especially, I\u2019m 60 years old. I did not think I would be doing stunts, playing a superhero in my 60s. So that was great,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd everyone was really nice. And I got it done really quickly because I couldn\u2019t go, because of\u00a0The Traitors, when most of my scenes were being shot. So I squashed them all together, and got a green screen and various things and little scenes of people here and there. But it was pretty stealthy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile details surrounding the Phase Six installment of the\u00a0Marvel\u00a0Cinematic Universe are being kept under wraps,\u00a0Cumming previously teased that his Nightcrawler may have a fight scene with Pedro Pascal\u2019s Mister Fantastic<\/a>.<\/p>\n
