Jack Dover is eager to put last weekend behind him following a pair of rare DNFs.<\/p>\n
The Tim Estenson Motorsports competitor qualified seventh quickest and quickly took the lead in a heat race before disaster ended his night early on Friday during a POWRi 410 Outlaw Sprint League show at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt spit the driveshaft out in the heat race,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen it did that it twisted the motor pretty hard so we called it a night to be safe. Fortunately, when we checked it out at the shop everything was okay.\u201d<\/p>\n
The team ventured to Huset\u2019s Speedway on Sunday and Dover opened the night by setting quick time during qualifying. He then finished fourth in a heat race to garner the 11th starting position in the 25-lap Cressman Sanitation Midwest Sprint Touring Series 410 Sprint Cars main event.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was really excited for last night because I knew how good our car has gotten since Brian Kemenah helped us at Knoxville,\u201d he said. \u201cSetting quick time shows that we\u2019re better. As a driver I could tell how much better my car is so that makes me excited for the rest of the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dover climbed to seventh before a parts failure forced him to pull off with eight laps remaining. He was credited with an 18th-place result.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe realistically were a fifth- or sixth-place car,\u201d he said. \u201cI was going to be happy. There wasn\u2019t a lot of passing so when we can move forward it\u2019s a good night, but unfortunately we had a DNF.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dover continues to lead the MSTS 410 Sprint Cars championship standings heading into another series race this Saturday at Off Road Speedway in Norfolk, Neb. The weekend concludes on Sunday with a return to Huset\u2019s Speedway, where Dover now ranks fifth in the championship standings \u2013 only four points out of third place.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m really excited for Off Road Speedway,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019ve done well there in my career and Timmy (Estenson) gets to race so I\u2019m pumped for that. I know the feeling when I was helping Timmy and I got to race so I\u2019m excited to see him rip.\u201d<\/p>\n
