Star, a baby bald eagle, has been released back into the wild near its nest after recovering from a fall.<\/p>\n

COLUMBUS, Ohio \u2014 A baby bald eagle<\/a> that was injured after falling from its nest earlier this month was released back into the wild on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Officials with the Ohio Bird Sanctuary and the Ohio Division of Wildlife released the eaglet, named Star, at the Grange Audubon Center, located less than five miles from its nest on Dublin Road.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the Division of Wildlife said the original nest site was not ideal for a safe release because it is too close to Dublin Road.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The spokesperson added that due to the “eagle’s age and time it has spent away from its parents, this release will facilitate better integration into the wild, away from its parents’ nest. At this stage, the eagle is naturally prepared to leave the nest.”<\/p>\n

“Star is doing great and is reported to be very sassy,” the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

Star’s parents’ nest, located along the Scioto River, has become a hot spot among the local birdwatching community.<\/p>\n

After the eaglet’s fall, officials with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources rescued her and took her to the Ohio Bird Sanctuary in Mansfield.<\/p>\n

Gary Comer, a wildlife management supervisor with ODNR, said if it weren’t for the birdwatchers who saw Star fall and immediately got help, the eaglet would not be alive.<\/p>\n
