Golf fans are heartbroken for Rickie Fowler on Sunday evening.

Fowler, once a top-five player in the world, has been playing better as of late. Earlier this month, his strong finish at the FedEx St. Jude earned him a spot in the BMW Championship. That finish – a tie for fourth place – secured him a spot in most of the top tournaments for the 2026 golf season.

Fowler came into the weekend in the 48th position in the FedEx Cup standings. He needed a really strong finish at the BMW Championship to get into the Top 30 and qualify for the PGA Tour Championship.

The former top-five golfer ended up finishing in the Top 10, but he missed a birdie putt on the final hole, which eliminated him from contention at the Tour Championship.
